The Director of Film IT is responsible for all aspects of IT strategy, IT program delivery, and operational support for the Universal Studios business areas such as Title Management Office (TMO) and the Rights group. In addition, this director will drive key cross business initiatives including Integrated Film Production & Release Management program, Release Planning & Competitive Market Analysis tool, and others.

Own business engagement for all IT services and manage relationships with senior business leadership team for TMO and Rights.
  • Proactively identify business engagement gaps across Film businesses and foster new business partnerships, i.e. Film Production. Build partnership with key leaders of those areas to identify technology and process solutions which would address key business issues and support new business strategies.
  • Drive yearly IT planning and budgeting process for areas of responsibility. Participate as a key contributor to developing 3-5 strategy for Film IT. Provide regular updates to business leadership on operational issues, service levels, and project status.
  • Recommend multi-generational roadmap/ execution plan with cost benefit studies for each program attaining sponsorship and financial support from business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate delivery across all key stakeholders. This includes business engagement areas, IT and business finance, systems, infrastructure, and vendors; closely manage communication and expectations across the different business divisions, functions and IT groups.
  • Continue to complete analyses of the wing-to-wing processes and industry landscape including competitor benchmarking and industry technology offerings.
    Oversee IT System Operations:
  • Support the existing application portfolio and integration touch points (administration, upgrades, patches).
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams to plan and oversee infrastructure related initiatives which impact areas of responsibility.
  • Oversee and continuously improve the process for approving, prioritizing, and scheduling all requests, enhancements, and projects requested by the business.
  • Manage high visibility escalations; Track and ensure service levels are being met.
    Manage relationships with IT shared service leaders and serve as liaison for all IT services (including core compute needs, PC, mobile, collaboration, and other infrastructure services) to areas of responsibility.
    Meet regularly with shared services and software solutions leaders to understand technology and platform roadmaps.
  • Engage with client service team aligned to Film to maximize end-user capabilities and service levels.
  • Provide oversight on delivery of infrastructure services that directly impact day-to-day operations as well as key projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Film IT and Home Entertainment support teams to share best practices and look for opportunities to collaborate on a comprehensive IT strategy across Film at NBCU.
  • Manage a portfolio of technology projects with direct accountability to senior business leaders.
  • Complete projects and initiatives already in progress (TM, IPPM, etc) within established schedule/budget.
  • Manage a team of IT professionals (PMs, BAs, vendors and contractors) to support IT and business initiatives.
  • Manage staff including performance discussions and salary planning; make hiring decisions, manage career development

  • Qualifications/Requirements
  • B.A./B.S. in computer science, business administration, or relevant experience and 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible information technology positions, including minimum of 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Strong background in software development, applications management, IT operations or related field.
  • Proven ability to build highly effective IT teams: functional, technical, and management staff.
  • Ability to work in a high stress and demanding environment of a 24/7 operation.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Experience developing and managing large capital and operating budgets.
  • Demonstrated strength in managing systems/ efforts w/ cross-functional teams & concurrent deadlines.
  • Skilled in quickly absorbing and documenting highly complex multi- faceted business processes; defining and documenting process and technology improvements that significantly impact effectiveness and collaboration across business groups.
  • Excellent understanding of current technology and industry trends; ability to assess and propose state of the art technical solutions that would best meet business needs.
  • Strong written communication and oral presentation skills.
