The Finance Director will be responsible for managing the finance functions in meeting its objective of using the proper financial analytical techniques for preparing and reviewing the Medium Range Plan, monthly earnings estimates, new product proposals, strategic planning and special projects.
This individual will coordinate financial reporting requirements between Corporate accounting and the S&P CapitalIQ Segment, develop management information systems and procedures, implement reporting structures and systems to benefit Corporate and group management and identify potential cost savings and efficiency actions.
Develop presentations of the Financial Plan for senior management.
Provide full range of financial planning information including: financial analysis, competitive analysis, situations analysis, market volumes, revenue reporting and analysis, product profitability, key economic data and overall direction to the business units to develop effective business plans and strategies.
Measure and report financial performance versus plan, estimate and prior year.
Interpret results by assessing short and long-term implications of variances, making appropriate recommendations for future actions.
Evaluates risks and opportunities for presentation to Product and Content (P&C) Management.
Responsible for monthly reporting and analysis of market statistics.
Support the VP - Finance, SVP of Finance, and President as the P&C liaison with Corporate Financial Analysis and Profit Planning, Corporate Shared Services and Investor Relations.
Manage the financial planning process, which includes the monthly close, monthly estimate and annual Medium Range Plan. Coordinates and ensures the timely preparation of Medium-Range Plans (MRPs), budgets, and other special projects for P&C.
Monitor progress against plans to ensure that projects are completed within budget and on a timely basis.
Provide MRP guidelines, instructions, and direction to the operating units, international regions, and operations departments globally.
Provide procedures to ensure consistency with established financial policies and maintenance of adequate internal controls.
Coordinate with business units the reporting of financial results.
Ensure accurate reporting in the event of business unit realignment
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
Strong financial skills with a solid background in the application of such skills in a global operational environment.
Experience developing budgets, estimates, business plans, and the financial analyses in multiple foreign currencies.
Highly developed administrative skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at the same time
Effective managerial skills to manage a team of three individuals as well as working with several levels of management in a global matrixed organization.
Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated track record as a negotiator, are needed to manage the day-to-day business relationships across multiple business units.
CPA or MBA require
This position requires a sense of urgency as most projects are time-critical with short lead time for completion.
