Position Summary: This position will be a key component to work on understanding the current product offering and developing formulas and products to expand the existing portfolio. The position will make recommendations on reformulation based on nutritional changes, costing and/or customer improvements. The position will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, raw material approval, cost and be able to formulate products that have restricted nutritional parameters. The position will require bench formulation to commercialization of finished products or working directly with co-manufacturers on providing specifications for finished product development. The position will work within a network of existing co-manufacturers and potentially source new co-manufacturers based on the product being developed. The position interfaces with supply chain, quality, marketing and retail. This position requires travel, amount varies per project loads.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor or management.
Sourcing raw materials and or co-manufacturers for development
Creation of Integrated Product Definitions
Bench Formulation and samples
Fully scale commercialization
Trend and new market research understanding for new food development
Lead Bench Sample Approval Process
Attend Plant Trials
Work with Food Quality to provide formulation inputs for Finished Product Specifications
Assessment of technical equipment and processes at co-manufacturing locations
Assessment of ingredient acquisitions, costs, material approvals, substitution verification of raw materials
General support for all technical issues and alignment of NPD to existing quality model requirements
May be required to do culinary projects
Responsible for resource and formulation capture and management in corporate product development digital files
Business Development needs as required per Sr. Management

10+ years in food development
Least Cost Formulation
Formulation within Nutritional Guidelines
