Responsibilities:
The Director, Global Specialty Products Strategy will lead the global specialty product business development and strategy through integrated analysis of global markets, customers, competitors, and macro and micro economic trends. He/she will be responsible for developing the Global Specialty Products long term vision as well as business development activities, including leadership in the development and / or vetting of business cases and plans for various strategic opportunities.

This is a first-generation job. As such, there are many unique challenges. This person must be able to define the market opportunity clearly and set a strategy to grow a very fragmented market currently. Additionally, this person must determine the right mix of global and corporate strategies in a market that isn’t dominated by large global customers. The jobholder is responsible for leading the development of mandated business plans to evaluate strategic opportunities at both the corporate and regional levels. The main challenges gravitate around being able to:

Skilfully and promptly gather and interprets facts about a given opportunity

·

Identify options, threats and others dimensions required to build a solid business case that clearly reflects the opportunity for Novelis

·

Lead Global Specialty Products Value Based Management process integrating regional strategies into global strategy

·

Customer and product segmentation

·

Customer and product profitability analysis

·

Global supply and demand / capacity analysis – Internal and external

·

Development of strategic presentations for Novelis Global Operating Committee

·

Working with regional representatives to align global view with regional views

·

Global analysis of the major factors on Novelis Global Specialty Products strategy

·

Developing and implementing appropriate reporting, communication, meeting tools and schedules for maximizing effect of global team

·

Various management matrices – Global contract matrix, Global negotiation matrix, Inter-regional supply matrix, Global cost matrix

·

Set-up structured market & competitor intelligence process (linked with regional activities)

Qualifications

·

Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline is required, MBA or other advanced degrees are highly desired

·

10+ years of related experience is required

·

Experience managing a global portfolio is highly desired

·

In-depth knowledge of the metals manufacturing industry

·

Integrity and rigor

·

Ability to absorb a large amount of information in a short period

·

Ability to develop and maintain complex financial model

·

Understanding of legal tools and options

·

Good negotiation skills

·

Good project coordination skills

·

Ability to leverage both internal and external contacts
