Director of HR

The Director of Human Resources is a critical leadership role in the organization, with responsibility for taking the HR function to the next level as AppNexus scales globally at a record pace. This role is responsible for managing a growing team of Human Resources Business Partners and Coordinators, supporting the employee base and driving strategic initiatives that meet the needs of AppNexus’ rapidly growing business. Specifically, the Director of HR is charged with developing and implementing HR systems and policies, spearheading and improving performance management and systematizing HR operations globally.
Reporting to the EVP of Corporate Development and Operations, the Director of HR will act as a strategic business partner, supporting HR activities and initiatives across all AppNexus geographies and functional areas. The ideal candidate will easily flex between handling strategic HR initiatives one moment and coaching managers on people-related matters the next.

Responsibilities

Lead a global team of HR business partners

Engage and influence senior management to support and implement HR initiatives across the organization, including performance management, onboarding, employee relations and compensation & benefits

Provide expert guidance on managing complex organizational and people issues, employee relations, policies and benefits

Partner with other HR leaders on programs and best practices across AppNexus

Coach business leaders on leadership practices, employee communication, development and performance management strategies and tactics to promote engagement

Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation

Support domestic and international growth opportunities across the company

Background & Experience

At least 7 years of HR experience and a minimum of 3 years in an HR management role with international scope

Prior experience in an extremely high-growth environment

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to communicate effectively and influence at all levels of the organization and across geographies

Unafraid to question and challenge established processes, approaches, and strategies

Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and mentor a human resources team

Strong sense of urgency and focus on achieving results

Capable of being both strategic and tactical as necessary

Ability to connect with employees at all levels of the organization

Experience helping domestic and global organizations scale

Expertise in State, Federal and applicable international employment laws
