Mitsubishi Electric Automation, Inc. (MEAU) is seeking an IT Director to partner with MEAU business units to maximize their productivity and flexibility to meet the needs of a company working to grow market share in a stable industry. Provides innovative thought, leadership and direction in the use of technology to maximize the effectiveness of the organization. Leverages Information Technology to optimize financial performance, reduce costs and create a powerful engaged working environment based on a service providers approach to customer satisfaction.
Plans, directs and manages the IT Department in order to ensure the maintenance, development and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient computer operations to meet current and future decision making and operational requirements.
Position Duties and Responsibilities: Manages and leads the IT department's operational, project and strategic execution activities, including Leading Portfolio Management and Project Governance activities to ensure alignment of IT related expenditures and resources to priority of business needs Providing IT demand/workload management to ensure effective use of IT resources both internal and external Pursue cost optimization in all areas, developing comprehensive metrics to measure and monitor progress Supporting and utilizing effective project management practices, including full SDLC and PMM best practices to ensure exceptional project execution and delivery of business value Establishes effective Vendor Management practices for external services and products Develops and provides efficient, customer service oriented team Manages IT staff, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions Develops internal consulting relationships with organization leadership Directs and supports the Information Technology Department so that they are able to provide consistently high levels of service to users, exceptional project execution and risk mitigation Conducts periodic reviews and improvements of IT processes, methodologies and procedures to ensure on-going adoption of industry best practices and superior customer service. Where necessary, re-engineers IT processes (i.e. support) to ensure it aligns with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision Conducts research and prepares training plans for staff in order for them to remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of future initiatives Ensures timely, effective use of technology to support business goals/needs Migrates the organization to an effective hybrid insource/outsource model for the provision of information technology services Directs research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts Reviews performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements Benchmarks, analyzes reports on, and makes recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure, IT systems and Help Desk. Monitor performance Directs the design, development, and maintenance of systems, programs, and systems software to meet management and company's information needs Establishes effective Security tools and processes. Minimizes risk through the development and maintenance of a Disaster Recovery Plan Ensures alignment of the IT Strategy with the overall Business Strategy Provides leadership for short and long-range planning of technology initiatives – update and maintain the IT Roadmap Facilitate on-going, periodic conversations with the IT Steering Committee regarding resource and financial planning for IT Roadmap Translates the goals of the organization into technology deployment plans Advises and directs organization leadership toward effective, efficient technology solutions to business requirements Provides innovative thought leadership on how to apply technology to enhance business performance Establishes IT policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources Administers the Department's budget, within budgetary guidelines to contribute to cost effective operations of the company. Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with the executives, management and key stakeholders on projects regarding pertinent IT activities Defines and communicates project milestones and metrics, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executives, management and key stakeholders on projects Centrally manages all hardware and software license agreements and vendor contracts Advises IT Steering Committee and CFO when outside assistance is needed and ensures the efficient use of these resources. Oversees negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements. Performs other job functions as assigned.
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities: IT Department – 10 - 15 direct/indirect reports
Travel Requirements: 5% Travel within North America, possible travel to Japan.
Essential Education, Skills and Experience: 15-20 years experience in IT operations and management and best practices Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or Business Administration or related field. 7 years plus experience in a supervisory role. Ability to lead people and get results through others. 7 years plus experience with SAP - ERP 7 years plus experience with CRM Strategic IT vision – ability to provide IT strategy/vision, including the ability to define, operationalize and refresh this vision/strategy on a periodic basis – in alignment with business goals/objectives Budgeting – proven capabilities in translating technology needs into prioritized plans and budgetary requirements Executive Communication – ability to communicate effectively with executives and management regarding technology concepts, plans, operations and requirements Prioritization and portfolio management – proven capability of balancing strategic vision, operational requirements and technology alignment into an overall implementation plan Project management – demonstrated project management skills ranging from minor technology upgrades to major shifts in technology approach People management skills – proven experience coordinating a broad mix of IT staff Proven experience in the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, and products Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures Logical and efficient Keen attention to detail Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products, as required Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly, business language Highly self-motivated and directed Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks Strong customer service orientation Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent listening and interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with Japan Computer mastery (MS Office proficiency)
