Indiana Agricultural Law Foundation, Inc ., is a 501(c)(3) legal foundation focusing on legal issues relevant to the agricultural community. The IALF was established in 2005 by Indiana Farm Bureau, Inc. to promote a better understanding of agricultural law to farmers, landowners, attorneys, judges, lawmakers, agribusinesses and the general public. The IALF supports the development of educational programs and materials to reach these audiences. The IALF also supports litigation to educate the legal community and clarify legal issues affecting a wide range of farmers in order to establish a settled area of law. The IALF is not a public interest law firm and does not represent clients or render individualized legal advice.
Job duties include assisting with strategic planning and operation of the IALF with a particular focus on achieving the foundation’s fundraising objectives. Fundraising initiatives will include soliciting private contributions through annual fund drives, planned and deferred giving strategies, major gift campaigns, special events, sponsorships and grant acquisition. The Director will also develop and implement strategies to identify and cultivate donor prospects and potential benefactors. Significant fundraising progress is required within a three-year timeframe.
The Director will assist in surfacing issues and developing educational programing efforts for the agricultural and legal communities in a proactive manner. He or she will develop strategic areas of focus, both for case selection and support as well as educational programming. The position will also have primary responsibility for outreach to agricultural organizations, agricultural and related businesses, the legal community and the general public and will communicate the mission, purpose, function and limitations of the IALF. Cultivating strong relationships within the legal community will be an expectation.
The position is full-time and offers a competitive salary and benefits. Some limited travel, particularly within the State of Indiana, is required.
The incumbent must have a law degree and a license to practice law in the state of Indiana. Requires experience in agriculture or business related areas in the agricultural community. Knowledge and experience in fundraising and resource development is preferred. Must have excellent written, verbal, research, computer and team building skills. A minimum of five (5) years of work experience related to agriculture and/or fundraising preferred.
