A. Management/Administrative Operations

1. Administer and coordinate all library services
2. Develop and maintain consistent service policies and procedures
3. Prepare and administer the Library budget
4. Supervise and evaluate full and part-time library faculty and staff
5. Establish, analyze, and evaluate strategic and long-range plans for the library and the professional staff
6. Supervise and ensure currency of Integrated Library Systems
7. Provide for the security of library materials and the proper use of library facilities and equipment
8. Supervise the allocation and expenditure of funds for print and non-print materials
9. Insure the quality and balance of the collection according to accepted principles of collection development and management
10. Prepare proposals and applications for externally funded grants
11. Review and report annually on the activities of the Library
12. Participate on appropriate college committees
13. Provide oversight for the develop and maintenance of the OCC Institutional Archive
14. Perform other duties assigned by the Vice President of Academic Affairs (M.E.)

B. Financial Accountability

1. Prepare and supervise all budgets for the Library
2. Approve all expenditures for the Library

C. Public Relations/Communications

1. Represent the Library and serve as the liaison to the College administration, faculty, staff and students and to the community
2. Represent the College on relevant regional, state and local committees
3. Develop and maintain relationships with peers at other academic libraries in addition to the Ocean County Public Library

D. Education/Training – Advising/Counseling

1. Orient new library staff to the services of the library.
2. Provide training as needed.
3. Conduct regular library services staff meetings.

E. Technical

1. Be current in knowledge of and changes in library technologies.
2. Maintain appropriate competency in contemporary computer technology

Salary Range:

Required Qualifications:
A. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
B. Administrative experience including aspects of planning, managing personnel, and developing and monitoring budgets
C. Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment
D. Experience with evaluating and implementing emerging library technologies
E. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
F. A verifiable record of advocacy for a teaching-learning library environment
G. Commitment to professional and staff development
H. Strong working knowledge of computer software including MS Word & Excel

Preferred Qualifications:
A. A minimum of three years progressively responsible administrative experience in academic libraries including planning, developing and monitoring budgets, managing personnel, and implementing technology
B. Experience in grant proposal writing and/or administration
C. Previous experience in writing policies for a Library or related environment

Hours of Work:
The Director of Library Services shall be employed on a twelve-month basis. Compensation and benefits shall be in accordance with the Handbook for Non-Affiliated Administrators ( NAA ) and pertinent Board of Trustees Policies. Regular, prompt attendance shall be considered an essential job responsibility.
