The Director, Marketing Dietary Supplements for North America:
  • Develops and leads the implementation of the Dietary Supplement (DS) strategy for North America (NA).
  • Leads a team of senior marketing and technical marketing managers (application technology and customer facing) to generate sales of the complete DSM Nutritional Products (DNP) portfolio of Vitamins, Carotenoids, Omega 3s and New Nutritional Ingredients
  • Develops and implements marketing plans focused on growth of the DS segment in NAA
  • Responsibilities include long term strategy development with NAA leadership; implementation of short and long term business plans to achieve business objectives; management of marketing operation costs (OPEX) related to DS and activities; significant input into the annual sales budget for DS; development on new channel strategies for the DS segment (e.g. physician recommended)
  • Development of individuals on his/her team to accept and grow into new responsibilities and positions

The Challenge
  • Responsible for all aspects of the development of the NAA DS strategy and implementation of this strategy via the DS Marketing managers and sales teams
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of the New Nutritional Ingredients (NNI) regional launch plans that are focused on the DS segment. This is done in close coordination with the Human Nutrition & Healthy (HNH) global marketing team. Responsible for NNI regional business case input during the feasibility phase of Innovation DS projects
  • Responsible for NAA sales team trainings on NNI for the DS segment
  • Responsible for all DS Industry trade shows and conference coordination, promotions, advertising, market research, customer presentations and projects and the OPEX budget associated with these activities
  • Leads regional cross-functional teams on specific brand-related projects, working closely with technical marketing to develop concept ideas and applications support; clinical development, regulatory affairs and legal departments in regulatory approvals, development and implementation of new claims and market expansion project; quality assurance and control in preparation of successful launch; supply chain to oversee all commercial launch activities
  • Develops both direct and indirect reports’ career paths. Is responsible for the development of direct reports’ annual performance plans (KPIs) and annual performance reviews (PDRs)

The Ideal
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business or communications and/or equivalent
  • and MBA in marketing and/or other advanced degree required Proven past market development experience and successes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, analytical abilities, excellent communications and business development skills
  • Broad view on industry and markets, in-depth knowledge on products
  • Strong scientific, regulatory and technical knowledge preferred
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight timelines, showing flexibility to make adjustments as needed
  • Minimum 7 in B2B2C marketing and marketing management, preferably in the Human Nutrition field
  • Experience in leading, coaching and developing diverse team consisting of various experience levels
  • Experience in new business development and product launch
  • Experience in interpreting consumer and market insights and developing strategies based on those insights
  • Experience in leading and developing culturally diverse and global cross-functional teams consisting of regulatory, legal, science, technical, market research and communications disciplines in innovation activities
