POSITION PURPOSE -
The Media Director is responsible for the planning and execution of all of Home Depot's mass media advertising, including TV, radio, national print, local print, and outdoor. The job also includes purchasing for all advertising functions including print, paper, and commercial printing.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
This position is responsible for long term strategic thinking and planning for the media plan. This includes thinking outside of the current day-to-day environment to create a vision of what the future looks like in the media world.
Manage large budgets and analyze data including sales data, demographic/psychographic data, or media information. Must be able to evaluate the credibility of a resource or information prior to its implementation and use.
Build strong relationships quickly with people both internal to the Home Depot and external agencies.
Create a world class media department that is strong in both broadcast and print media.
Indentify team strengths and weaknesses and provide coaching/training to develop the weaknesses.
Maintain visability in the media industry and build strategic alliances to bring the company up-to-the-minute media opportunities.
Ensure the Media department's media goals and activities consistent with the overall company's goals and objectives.
Selects, develops, and motivates assigned staff.
Influence people both inside and outside (e.g., agencies) of the media department to drive quality execution of the media plan while maintaining strong working relationships.

Typically reports to Vice President of Advertising.
Direct and indirect reports typically include 19 managers/supervisors and 1 support associate.
Typically requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive or controversial situations.
Typically faces situations that have a variety of interpretations and require careful evaluation.
Typically solves problems by considering courses of action within the framework of management' s goals and standards.
Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
