Experience/Qualifications: Current RN licensure in the state of Florida Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree, Master of Science in Nursing preferred BLS Certified ACLS preferred (Critical Care Areas) Certification in Nursing Administration or Clinical Certification preferred Member of Professional Organization Minimum of two years experience in Nursing Management coupled with a minimum of five years clinical care experience required (preferable in specialty field). Special Skills: Knowledge, skills and competence in leadership, management and supervision Skills in communication and interpersonal relationships with professional and nonprofessional personnel
Physical Requirements: This job can be physically demanding at times requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Position Summary: The Director has professional responsibility to the Vice President Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer and is an integral member of the Nursing Leadership Team. The Director manages the overall operations of a Patient Care Unit is accountable for all twenty-four hours. This is to ensure cost-effective use of human and material resources in delivering “quality patient care”. This goal is accomplished by establishing a vision, providing leadership for future division development, assuring that the standards of care / scope of practice and quality improvement initiative are developed and maintained, and practice and managing the clinical, financial, operational and human resource services within the unit. The Director uses a collaborative process to develop departmental strategic goals and philosophy that supports the mission and vision of JMC.
The Nursing Director: Participates as a member of the JMC’s Nursing Management team in planning, policy formation, and administrative decision making with reference to the role, function, and operation of their departments. Supports JMC Nursing Vision, ”The Jupiter Medical Center Division of Nursing values excellence and innovation in preserving and advancing quality care to the patients we serve. These values are preserved through the integration of compassion, practice standards, fiscal accountability and technology while embracing the need to nurture and proliferate caregivers for the future”. · Supports JMC Management Action Plan philosophy with quality initiatives to improve patient care. · Provides Clinical Consultation to the Clinical Manager, Charge Nurses, and rest of their staff. · Defines and maintains the Standards of Nursing Practice within JMC. · Represents the Department of Nursing at required meetings. · Applying Cost Management Criteria. · Maximizing Performance Management. · Providing consistent Operations direction.
