Responsible for leadership and management of Diablo Canyon Engineering Services at Diablo Canyon Power Plant. Develops processes and programs to improve long term equipment performance, and ensure tools and processes are in place to effectively manage engineering workload. Director of Engineering has responsibility for the planning and execution of all engineering activities during on-line, forced outages, refuel outages and unplanned power reductions to ensure the safe, reliable and economic operation of the two units at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Generating Station; which generate 29% of PG&E's owned generation.
The Director of Engineering oversees the performance and development of approximately 200 professional and hourly staff personnel.
Develop and implement strategies to lead Diablo Canyon Engineering organization to industry-leading performance.
Provide leadership and strategic direction to Engineering leadership team to achieve consistently high levels of performance.
Provide oversight of key performance indicators to ensure business plan objectives are met. Administer and oversee all programs and processes in support of Engineering, including budget and cost monitoring, recruitment and staffing, work control, outage planning and performance improvement/corrective actions.
Provide oversight of major projects and initiatives to ensure best maintenance excellence and industry best practices are implemented, and nuclear safety is maintained.
BS Degree in Engineering or Physical Science
years of power plant experience, 3 must be from a nuclear plant
Current or prior SRO License or certification
Meet regulatory requirements for Engineering Director (this includes FSAR, Technical Specifications, and ANSI requirements).
Senior Reactor Operators License or CertificationProfessional Engineering Registration

Applied Technology Services (ATS) is an internal service organization that provides high quality technical services and expertise on an as-needed basis to all business lines at Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), including the Diablo Canyon Power Plant (DCPP).
Based at PG&E's San Ramon Technology Center, ATS is a multi-disciplinary team of approximately 100 engineers and technical personnel who perform work in the ATS San Ramon offices and laboratories, and in the field.
