The Oregon Department of Energy, (ODOE) is conducting an executive search for a highly skilled leader to serve as the agency’s Director. The mission of the Oregon Department of Energy is to reduce the long-term cost of energy for Oregonians.
The ODOE Director's primary purpose is to serve as the policy advisor to the Governor and Legislature on current and future energy issues and direct the overall operations of the Oregon Department of Energy.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership in the area of energy policy for Oregon, in planning for Oregon’s energy needs and in positioning Oregon to be a world leader in clean energy. Work closely with the Governor, federal and state legislative leaders and elected officials, including Oregon’s federal delegates; federal and state agency heads; and the Northwest Power and Conservation Council to ensure Oregon’s interests are reflected in regional, national, and international energy and nuclear waste policy.
Represent the agency or state on interagency, state, interstate, national or international committees or task forces providing expert consultation.
Establish and nurture partnerships with special interest groups; business and industry leaders, utility executives, consumers; local, state and federal officials and tribal governments to advance the agency mission.
Leadership skills demonstrating integrity, credibility, approachability and commitment to inclusiveness and collaboration across all levels in an organization
Extensive knowledge of energy demand and resources in the Pacific Northwest, particularly with respect to the role and nature of renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency and conservation to develop and implement a long term vision for Oregon's energy and resources
Experience in managing human, financial, material, and information resources in a manner which instills employee and public trust and accomplishes the organization's mission
Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic organizational goals, plans and policies
Experience in identifying and managing the internal and external politics that impact the work of an organization
Experience as a skilled consensus builder working with multiple stakeholders, often with competing interests
