The Director, Project Accounting will manage the plant accounting activities of GENCO. Responsibilities will include gathering data, providing analysis, preparing reports, making recommendations, driving productivity initiatives and corrective actions, establishing department objectives, and coaching and developing employees.

Job Functions

Essential Functions

Responsible for appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations; maintaining Solomon general ledger and Cartesis reporting systems; review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; assist in the budget/pmat processes; manage fixed assets; and working closely with GDF SUEZ Energy North America Corporate Accounting on consolidations.

This position will also be assigned special projects, working closely with the Controller. The individual will be expected to recommend and implement continuous process improvement initiatives and have experience in enforcing policies and processes that will protect the integrity of the GDF SUEZ Energy N.A. financial records.

Responsible for analyzing variances to actual and budget line items within the P&L.

Responsible for carrying out the debt compliance coordination, monitoring and reporting function for plant operations that maintain debt in accordance with loan agreements.

Manage a variety of accounting activities, from implementing control procedures, financial analyses,

overseeing reconciliations to the general ledger.

Ability to participate in monthly and year end accounting close process.

Ability to handle plant inquiries related to P&L information and assist monthly earnings forecasting process.

Ability to directly supervise Accounting staff.

Coordinate the monthly and annual closing process to ensure journal entries are complete, accurate and timely.

Assist the Controller in analyzing and preparing the financial statements in accordance with IFRS and U.S GAAP as well as the applicable disclosures.

Compile information and prepare materials for partnership and board meetings presentations.

Assist with preparation of financial schedules for use by external auditors and resolve questions during annual /quarterly audit and assist Controller with various external audit task and issues.

Coordinate and prepare responses for special requests for other GDF SENA Business Units.

Assist Business Control Managers in achieving their goals and requirements.

Acts as a team member with all employees of GDF SUEZ staff.

Complies with all GDF SUEZ Policies and Procedures.

Essential Physical Abilities

Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc.

Could involve some lifting up to 20 lbs.

Education /Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.

10+ years experience in accounting that includes a combination of public/private accounting firms and experience in the successful management and development of staff; highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented; ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization; demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Access.

Strong working knowledge of Cartesis and Solomon Accounting Systems.

Creative problem solving skills and ability to utilize good judgment.
