Professional Services - Director, M-Labs

Mandiant seeks a Director to lead our Research and Development/Malware Analysis organization, lead development projects, and grow our staff. The successful candidate will have proven experience leading technical people, possess sound business acumen, current technical skills, and be adept in managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manage research and development initiatives
Lead malware analysis operations
Supervise staff members, including providing development and coaching
Identify improvements to business processes and methodologies

Required Skills

Ability to successfully interface with internal and external clients
Ability to document and explain technical details in a concise, understandable manner
Ability to provide training, speak publicly and be comfortable in front of an audience
Capable of leading multiple projects with tight deadlines
Knowledge of and ability to use formal project management skills in planning, tracking, and reporting on project progress

Required Technical Skills

Strong software development experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and support small and large applications
Ability to reverse engineer x86 and x64 binaries
Understanding of common attacker methodologies and exploit techniques
Malware analysis experience or aptitude
Strong knowledge of tools used for malware analysis including:
IDA Pro Disassembler
Windows-based user-mode and kernel-mode debuggers
Visual Studio
Hex editors
Run-time analysis tools
Virtualization software
Network analysis tools

Desired Technical Skills

Forensics analysis experience or aptitude
Experience reverse engineer binaries of various types including:
C, C++, .NET, and Delphi
Strong understanding of Windows, Linux, and Mac Internals
Comprehensive understanding of common Windows APIs
Understanding of software exploits
Experience using Python scripting language for automation and application development
Experience developing applications in C, C++, and .NET
Experience designing, developing, and optimizing databases
Understanding of software engineering methodologies
Experience with various software development life cycles for both large and small projects
Thorough understanding of network protocols
Understanding of how to identify host and network indicators for detection

Education and Other Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field
Minimum 5 years of comparable experience; minimum 10 years of experience if no Master’s degree
Government security clearance preferred
Must be able to travel periodically
Must be eligible to work indefinitely in the U.S.
