Job Summary

This position can be located anywhere but Chicago is our preference.

This position will be responsible for building and maintaining a Retail Sales execution network to achieve Hillshire Brands' national goals and for leading the execution, measurement and reporting of all retail execution initiatives. The position will own all aspects of broker management and will manage and direct internal Retail Development Managers responsible for geographic broker management of retail in-store coverage. Budget responsibility of >$30MM and outsourced model of 1,000+ contract workforce through various regional and national brokers. Key internal interfaces are with the Chief Customer Officer, the Customer Leadership Team, Sales Directors, Customer Marketing, Brand Managers, Innovation Leads, and R&D and Retail Development Managers, as it relates to execution in store. Key external contacts will be with Broker leadership and retailer operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Leading and developing broker relationships as well as, driving the Retail Sales execution network to meet the collective needs of the Hillshire Brands customer teams

Manage organizational broker strategy with sales

Determine broker coverage requirements

Determine most effective approach to service Customer Team retail execution needs

Negotiate and manage broker contracts in line with Hillshire Brands' policies

Measure broker effectiveness/results; manage gaps and takes appropriate actions when results do not meet objectives

Conduct the following broker reviews resulting in reviewing our strategic and tactical scorecards to continually improve efficiencies and results with our broker partners:

Annual CEO / Acosta Leadership

Bi-Annual Acosta President Level

Monthly Acosta VP Perishables

Quarterly Regional Deli Broker Reviews

Lead and direct internal resources to manage and train field broker network

Own attainment of in-store objectives for all Customer Teams through the Retail Excellence organization:

Interact with Sales Directors and Retail Development Managers to understand retail needs

Prioritize Retail Excellence objectives across the Customer Management organization to maximize total HB results and ROI

Lead distribution, shelving, merchandising, pricing compliance, and activation (DSMPAs) execution and compliance

Lead training and development of Retail Excellence resources

Own the measuring, reporting and score-carding of retail results back to the organization

Determine best systems, tools, technology & processes to measure retail results

Manage multi-functional team of resources, both internal and external, by providing consistent directions and support, skills development through coaching and training, performance appraisals and motivation to achieve maximum productivity

Bachelor's degree

A minimum of 8-10 years of previous sales experience

A minimum of 5 years leading an internal or field sales team

Previous consumer packaged goods experience

Ability to partner and build relationships with both internal clients and also be a team leader within a diverse external client base and/or with business colleagues throughout the company

Able to make informed objective decisions and exercise business judgment

Ability to understand and reflect the strategic and practical implications on the company's business and strategic objectives

A self-starter with the ability to work independently

Excellent communication skills

Manage and prioritize a significant number of projects in a timely manner

Possess the maturity and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with, advise and influence multiple constituents

Ability to travel up to 75%
