Job Title: Retail Director Reports To: Managing Director Position Summary: Director of Retail Operations will have leadership across all direct-to-consumer touch points including Visitors Center, Wine Club, e-commerce, online marketing, social media and retail digital co-marketing. Responsible for developing an integrated approach that aligns visitation, social media engagement, e-commerce and online marketing into a single strategy. Full P&L responsibility for Visitors Center, Wine Club and e-commerce businesses; as well as delivering a customer experience the delivers on Mumm Napa’s vision of exceptional customer service. This position reports to the Managing Director. Responsible for adhering to all principles of Mumm Napa’s ISO, QSE Management System Strategic Direction Develop overarching 5-year strategic plan for direct-to-consumer business Set online Strategy; build capabilities to establish a consistent online and social media approach Work with Brand Director to ensure tight integration between overall Brand positioning and Visitors Center, Wine Club, online marketing, social media and e-commerce Retail Management: Working with Brand Director, to develop brand awareness vis-à-vis focused public relations efforts with P.R. agency, winery only product development, email marketing campaigns to local and regional businesses, and referral marketing programs Continually refine and enhance customer loyalty programs to ensure they are as effective as possible in meeting customer needs, enhancing the brands, and driving sales Develop vibrant event programming to engage current club membership and attract new members Develop and deploy promotional programs to improve visitation and product sales Develop and implement compelling Visitor Center and Wine Club merchandise offers for each shipment Develop cross functional staffing module Financial Performance: Manage the annual budget and allocation planning for Retail business Achieve business priorities: consumer acquisition, club conversion, profit generation, brand promotion, sales, and customer service. Build an analytical framework that measures and tracks performance across channel. Present weekly reports along with insights and recommendations to the broader team. The goal is to ensure that we are achieving ROI goals in the short-term while building a visionary digital marketing engine to support long-term business objectives Personnel Management Addresses and appraises performance, identifies development opportunities and acts as a coach/mentor when required. Leads team to meet or exceed sales goals based on annual budget Develop cross training initiative to fully develop Visitor Center and Wine Club competencies Responsible for the staffing and development of direct reports Process annual evaluations Develop ongoing incentive programs for direct sales team Develop and participate in ongoing training Nature & Scope: Position typically works with multiple members of the Mumm Napa winery particularly Brand Director and Managing Director. Typically works with multiple members of Mumm Napa winery including, but not limited to, Winemaking, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Human Resources. Communication can include sensitive information requiring complete confidentiality and discretion in dealings and contacts. Decisions impact the group and organization as a whole Key Competencies: Education: Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, sales or related business discipline. Experience / Background: Minimum 5 years’ experience in the luxury wine industry with emphasis on exceptional guest service and direct to consumer sales Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in e-commerce Minimum 7 years management experience Required Skills/Competencies: Good fiscal management skills and good understanding of P&L accountability E-commerce and social media Exceptional oral and written interpersonal communication skills Ability to function independently and make empowered decisions that positively affect the customer’s experience Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service skills Strong attention to detail Must be a team player - able to encourage and cooperate with team members Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Access, Outlook); prior experience with database management systems and POS Polished presentation, interpersonal, and facilitation skills Team player with enthusiastic outlook and creativity Working Conditions: General Office: Work is performed in a typical office environment. Limited demands for movement and lifting. Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage. Field Environment: Work is performed in a typical field environment with moderate demands for movement and lifting. Normal visual, hearing and language acuity required for correspondence and computer usage. Frequent travel by land and/or air in diverse weather conditions is required.
