SUMMARY: Al Jazeera America seeks a Director, Sales in their Affiliate Relations Team to manage business relationships with NCTC members. The role is responsible for account management of existing NCTC affiliates, with a focus on building overall value of network and selling in promotional and marketing initiatives to help build awareness and viewership of the network among NCTC member base. The role is also responsible for developing and implementing successful sales strategies to secure new distribution from NCTC members who do not carry Al Jazeera America. The position is based in New York.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Account Management Maintain a deep understanding of NCTC member priorities and business goals and determine how Al Jazeera America can assist in achieving these objectives Develop and execute quarterly account management strategies for NCTC accounts, with focus on how to secure promotional support (ideally in form of local cross channel) behind Al Jazeera America ’s initiatives Cultivate strong knowledge of all industry multi-platform products (VOD, TV-E, Mobile, Live Streaming) in order to sell in local multi-platform promotional opportunities where possible Provide input to help shape the department ’s multi-platform strategy Work closely with Affiliate Marketing, collaborating on ideation and successful implementation of national marketing efforts (examples include: national sponsorships, events, contests, etc.) Identify relevant corporate leads with regard to Local Ad Sales (and/or collaborate with 3rdparty selling agents like ViaMedia) and drive programs at the national level to build value for Al Jazeera America by increasing the insertion base Help to populate and manage an affiliate contact database and system of tracking reports that measure sales activity, new launches, migrations and monitor the sell-in of affiliate marketing campaign Sales Develop and deliver meaningful, persuasive sales presentations on the network that demonstrate its value to prospect NCTC members Support Corporate discussions with the NCTC with regard to contract negotiations; maintain a deep understanding of agreement parameters in order to sell-in and launch new NCTC member carriage Seek out strategic business indicators at the regional / division level that might help demonstrate carriage demand to aid in Corporate discussions Gather competitive intelligence, current marketplace information (such as pricing, packaging, penetration, positioning and roll out strategies). Spot trends, track and analyze all relevant info and technological changes that affect the business Conduct on-going outreach to prospect affiliates via email, phone and in person ; stay top of mind, cultivate key relationships and regularly track any relevant org changes Maintain a high industry profile by participating in industry trade organizations and functions to increase the company ’s exposure " carriage potential BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE: Seven to ten years sales and marketing experience in the Cable, Satellite or Telco industry Extensive, favorable relationships with NCTC operators Proven track record of relationship management and key client accountability Has successfully met and exceeded target sales goals Strategic thinker who is also detail-oriented; creative problem solver Excellent sales and presentation skills College degree required, MBA a plus Minimum of 50% travel required IMPORTANT SUCCESS FACTORS: Strong intellect, analytical, rational with good business intuition and judgment Creative sales strategist with excellent presentation skills Proven team player, who helps create and sustain a positive, supportive culture among departments and other offices Strong interpersonal skills Thick-skinned with the ability to handle direct questioning or feedback.
