The College of Performing and Visual Arts at the University of Northern Colorado seeks a qualified Director for its School of Art & Design.

The Director will provide a creative vision and proactive leadership, as well as principled administrative guidance and advocacy for the mission of the School in teaching, research, and service. The Director serves as the academic and administrative officer of the School, reporting to the Dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts. The Director is responsible for the leadership of the School; strategic planning and analysis of School operations; oversight of the instructional program in the School; serving as the institutional representative to the National Association of Schools of Art and Design ( NASAD ); budget development; and faculty recruitment. The Director is expected to maintain scholarly research and creative activity. This is a full-time, twelve-month exempt administrative position to be held by a tenure eligible faculty member.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum: The candidate must have an MFA , Ed.D. or Ph.D. in one of the disciplines taught in the School of Art & Design. A national record of achievement as an artist and/or scholar equivalent to qualify for tenure at the associate or full professor level is required. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are required of all candidates. Three years previous administrative experience in an art executive position at the college/university level required.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health, life, and dental insurance, tuition grants for spouses and dependents, as well as a selection of defined contribution retirement programs.
