GENERAL PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for directing and controlling the procurement, supply, and logistics activities for the company for multiple locations and facilities; creates and implements a company-wide strategy that links and integrates all aspects of procurement and the supply chain to create transparency, seamless and timely material flow, and information integrity, on a platform that enables ongoing improvement. This is a working manager role.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
Conduct business with the highest ethical standards

Oversee and manage the tactical and strategic buying of materials and services across the organization

Implement, maintain and monitor strategic policies and processes, such as the Procurement Policy, that align the company with the marketplace and consider the local needs of a specific location

Fully understand all aspects of supply chain and procurement processes, and using analytical and quantitative methods, engage effective forecasting and process improvement

Ensure effective sourcing by developing knowledge of supplier capabilities, limitations, and business requirements

Work closely with internal clients to understand operational issues, identify opportunities, and resolve problems to meet the needs of the business, without compromise to safety or the environment

Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure good communication occurs on both routine supply chain activities and on special projects

Minimize contractor risks through a strong contractor management program

Manage spend effectively through category management and by leveraging vendor relationships

Partner with internal clients to develop and track key performance metrics for selected contractors and suppliers

Ensure contract compliance by periodically conducting vendor audits

Promote a favorable image of SM Energy by maintaining positive, ethical relationships with customers, suppliers and the business community

Manage 8 supply chain professionals across 4 locations

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain or related field

Minimum 15 years of supply chain & inventory management or other relevant experience

Oil and gas experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively upward, downward and with peers

Ability to work independently

Demonstrates sound judgment in all areas of responsibility

Strong interpersonal skills

Effective negotiation skills

Effective facilitation skills

Strong organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Ability to plan, analyze and present complex processes

Proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Periodic travel to the corporate offices and other regions is required.
