The Director of Test Engineering will be tasked with validating new product development products for the HID Secure Issuance Software and Hardware product offerings. Responsibilities include management of the verification team while providing strategic vision to create and execute best practices for product design verification and validation. Product qualification testing includes Microsoft Windows applications and card personalization hardware (printers). This role requires technical contribution in addition to managerial responsibilities. The individual in this role will mentor staff in industry best practices including the development of automated test processes and work with other departments inside and outside of engineering to improve product quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for testing of product releases including defining the test strategy and preparing test plans/procedures from system requirements

Participation in all phases of the project life-cycle including: requirements review/analysis, project and test planning, test execution, and test reporting and assessment.

Experience improving development practices to raise quality such as: continuous integration, QA automation code reviews, automated code testing tools.

Defines and/or designs the required software testing (SQA) on new product application software products (includes boxed software, drivers, and SDKs)

Defines and/or designs the required testing on new hardware products (includes dye sublimation printers/encoders)

Manages the execution of functional validation tests and collection of metrics to generate test data, test logs and associated test reports/summaries to assure product design adequacy and/or standards conformance.

Ability to identify, document and report problems found and communicate anomalies to developers via clear problem reports in bug tracking system.

Ability to mentor junior engineers and technicians with demonstrated initiative to meet project objectives and timelines

Responsibilities include utilizing root cause analysis and other techniques to resolve quality issues including product performance issues, system integration issues, firmware defects and customer complaints.


Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field and demonstrated experience in Microsoft Windows software verification 5 year minimum.

Test Engineering management experience with software applications design and automated test

Expertise with software quality assurance/system test principles.

Strong understanding of different software development life cycles (waterfall, iterative, Agile) and contemporary software quality assurance processes and tools.

Strong leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect while motivating team members in a creative and effective manner

Working knowledge of bug/defect tracking and software versioning programs such as Seapine Test Track Pro is highly desired.

Solid engineering skills with familiarity of industrial design of experiments (DOE) and understanding of statistical data analysis techniques is highly desired.

Expertise in design validation principals, test plan and test case development, automated testing of interfaces, and automated test method development using high-level scripting languages such as Matlab, Labview, Tcl/Tk or equivalent.

Demonstrated aptitude in the set-up and operation of test and data acquisition equipment

Excellent problem solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills a must.

Must have a desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, process and product quality and reliability.

Programming experience in C#, .Net, Perl and Python, and LabView are desired.

Previous managerial experience in day-to-day operations including mentoring, executing performance reviews and other HR related activities

Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing.

Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.

Familiar with networks and network management

Limited travel and fieldwork including international travel, therefore employee must possess or can acquire a valid US Passport.
