Principal Duties and Accountabilities
Oversees the analysis, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of IT/technical training solutions, which may include classroom instruction, virtual learning opportunities, on-line resources, etc. for blended learning approaches.
Participates in the start up, initial strategy development and leadership of high profile and complex corporate or cross functional initiatives that could include working with key external partners/vendors.
Ensures training initiatives and priorities are aligned with IT and business priorities by working closely with business area leadership.
Performs a leadership role on department and corporate task force initiatives, working closely with management and peers (e.g., may serve on UUS Training Leadership Council and/or partner with other Heads of Training to influence direction of development across company.
Responsible for the compilation, reporting and analysis of training metrics to assure appropriate return on investment.
Leads team of direct reports comprised of professional level positions and support staff. Performs workforce planning, selection, management and ongoing development of training staff.
Establishes and oversees area budget; responsible for expense management.
Creates and sustains a high performing work environment that engages training staff. Mentors and develops training staff.
May perform other duties as assigned.
BS in Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Organization Development or similar training related fields or equivalent related work experience is required.
Five years management experience strongly preferred. Proven track record as strong people leader, with coaching, mentoring and management skills.
5-7 years experience in insurance or business related environment. Demonstrated understanding of the market/business issues and ability to transfer training strategy into measurable business results in influencing business direction.
5-7 years experience in training, adult education or organizational design. Understands and applies core tenants of training design/methodology and adult learning principles. Synthesizes good instructional design with alternative delivery methods.
Excellent collaboration, effective relationship building, communication and influencing skills
Strong organizational skills to effectively define and manage initiatives. Effective time management and execution (implementation), facilitation and presentation abilities.
Strong analytical skill and ability to think critically.
Superior track record in managing multiple, concurrent projects, adapting easily to new, different, or changing situations, requirements or priorities.
