Acclarent, Inc. is a leading medical device company dedicated to the development of innovative devices to meet the needs of Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeons and patients. Acclarent's initial focus was on achieving the goals of sinus surgery with ground-breaking, endoscopic, catheter-based tools - Balloon Sinuplasty™ devices. Through Balloon Sinuplasty™ Technology and our Relieva® Product Portfolio, we offer ENT patients an invaluable option to conventional endoscopic surgical technologies.

Acclarent now intends bold moves into further therapies across the ENT field. To help continue our history of achievement in medical technology, we are seeking an exceptional marketing professional able to deliver creativity and concrete results for a landmark device product introduction.

The Director, Worldwide Communications, is responsible for the creation of a strategic communications plan including the development and implementation of integrated internal and external communications and public affairs strategies to support the business objectives of Acclarent. This role requires providing counsel to senior leaders in the business to utilize communications to meet strategic business objectives and will serve on the Acclarent Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities include integrated communications to support the business objectives of Acclarent. This includes: External Communication - Responsible for leading, developing and executing communications programs to advance the commercial objectives, enhance the Company's reputation, and help drive sustainable product growth through effective and strategic branded and unbranded communication, media relations and issues management. Successful execution of product communication support will require partnering with appropriate worldwide and regional business leaders, external agency partners and communications staff to achieve business objectives. Organizational Communication - Responsible for leading, developing and executing internal organizational, change management and employee communication programs to engage employees and heighten their level of business understanding and engagement with the business. Includes oversight of materials development for town hall forums, internal portals and other channels of communications as appropriate. Strategic Business Counsel - Act as a strategic business partner and provide ongoing-senior level communication advice and counsel to senior leaders. Public and Government Affairs - Working collaboratively with internal partners, develop and oversee programs that can positively influence the external environment to foster a more favorable business climate.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree is required; Master's degree preferred. Candidate must possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in communications or public affairs related positions. This position requires strong leadership competencies, specifically in terms of influence management, effectively gaining consensus for new approaches, managing through ambiguity and effectively handling multiple stakeholders. Must demonstrate ability to work as part of a team, but also be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. Demonstrated expertise in organizational change management and culture change is strongly preferred. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse work environment, as well as the key principles embedded in Our Credo. Expertise in communication that may be sensitive or affect a worldwide audience is necessary. Demonstrated experience with successfully creating and delivering strategic communications programs to both internal and external audiences. Candidate must have strong working knowledge of social media and other new media technologies with track record of use in internal and/or external PR activities. Experience working with and managing agencies, consultants and budgets is required. Strong written and oral communication skills with experience in executive speech writing and presentation development are required. Outstanding interpersonal skills with emphasis on leadership, relationship development and influence skills. This position is based in Menlo Park, CA and may require 25% travel.
