Job Description:
The Director of communications will have the opportunity to play a critical role in the company’s repositioning from the leading provider of Recurring Revenue Services to the leader in SaaS-based recurring revenue. In this role the successful candidate will own SSI’s communications strategy & execution while partnering with Sales, Marketing, Company Execs & most importantly, our customers to position us as a thought leader and innovator.
The Director of Communications will:
Develop and execute a communications strategy that creates news and delivers against business goals. This includes Public Relations, both industry and general business press
Create and manage a high profile thought leadership program that drives influencers, media, analysts, customers, prospects and investors to seek our point of view
Run the press office function, including media relations, inquiries, press releases, etc
Manage and expand media partnerships, leveraging ServiceSource thought leadership and analysis to drive market awareness through columns, blogs and events
Identify key events, speaking opportunities and industry awards for us and develop compelling abstracts and proposals to drive selected engagements
Create platforms for key executives and strategies for getting them into the right events and speaking opportunities
Partner with Marketing Leadership to create compelling corporate messaging and positioning
Review large scale outbound communications from all groups to ensure consistent quality, voice and messaging
Develop and grow relationships with key analysts, shaping their views on the industry and the company
Manage internal communications, in partnership with HR, including programs that drive HR strategic objectives, messaging for CEO and key execs and internal communications infrastructure
Develop and execute an agency strategy
Desired Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a track record of successful communications and thought leadership execution in a business to business environment. They must understand the value of strategic positioning but also enjoy rolling up their sleeves and working on individual programs. The Director of Communications will drive execution, and take ownership of building a world-class communications program.
The successful candidate will likely have the following experience:
10+ years of progressively responsible experience in Public Relations and corporate communications
10+ years of experience managing Analyst Relations, preferably in software / cloud services
10+ years of marketing / communicating services; prefer some experience in cloud services
Demonstrated ability to drive successful thought leadership programs that position companies with executives and their teams as “must have” partners for staying on the leading edge
Demonstrated ability to make news that drives innovative and compelling business-oriented coverage in both general business and trade press
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute media partnerships that drive thought leadership
Demonstrated ability to run successful internal communications programs
Excellent writing, communications and presentation creation / delivery skills
BA from leading university
Required experience: 5+ years
Minimum required education: Bachelor's Degree
