Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, responsible for working with our internal organizations to develop and deploy appropriate strategic sourcing strategies for the Business Process Outsourcing category globally. This will include strategic input on development of requirements, execution of a go-to-market strategy, contract development and negotiation, and support with ongoing supplier management programs.
Current spend in this category exceeds $80M in the US with a potential for rapid growth, and is estimated to be similar in size outside the US. Major services include but are not limited to:

Call Center (Inbound/Outbound, Sales/Service, IVR)

Data Entry and Transaction Processing

Imaging and Workflow Processes / Development & Support

Third party administration of complete books of business

The successful candidate is a highly strategic individual with strong relationship building skills, influencing and presentation skills, with the ability to identify and implement best in class supplier management practices and latest industry trends. This individual will interact with senior leaders across all of MetLife and our supplier partners, acting as a change agent to drive a holistic supplier management program at MetLife.

Procurement Strategy

Organize and define overall procurement category strategy for BPO that aligns with senior business management vision; leveraging an understanding of the internal company and external market landscape, best practices, opportunity for global collaboration, and savings strategies.

Partner with senior level management to identify sourcing opportunities, cost reductions, process efficiencies and quality improvements.

Collaborate with clients on projects, priorities, and timelines, including being called upon to lead multi-organizational teams in developing & executing sourcing strategies.

Oversee the RFP process, and lead negotiations in complex, high impact or volatile situations involving high business risk.

Provide current and future savings, appropriate ROI and other metrics to the business clients.

Performs other duties as required.

Vendor Management:
Collaborate with internal organizations and coordinate with the MetLife Supplier Management Team to assure the Global Supplier Management Program is executed in alignment with the corporate prescribed best practices, and develop continuous improvements in the overall program to improve our position as an industry leader.

Participate in the external & internal supplier review meetings with MetLife stakeholders to provide an open forum to discuss MetLife supplier relationships and assist in the management of vendors.

Facilitate, develop and lead vendor scorecard review meetings with stakeholder staff, focusing on current monthly performance trends and actions to improve performance and drive innovation.

Maintain ownership of the vendor database.

Operate & control vendor tiering and vendor add processes to appropriately size supplier base.

Required Experience:
5 + years’ experience in procurement sourcing or related category experience.

Desired Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or advanced (MBA preferably) or equivalent formal training.

Must be able to integrate / extract for relevancy external studies and trends into current work effort for process improvements e.g. Balance Scorecard concept, Performance Metrics and KPI’s, industry trends, business models and performance studies.

Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with all levels of management and employees in a professional and friendly manner, especially in a team environment.

Work well under deadline pressure, taking ownership of work and ensuring exceptional follow-through; must be able to multitask and work independently with a high level of energy and precision.

Expert knowledge in developing multi-million dollar contracts.

Expert negotiation skills.
