Job Description

Summary of Responsibilities:
This role is responsible for managing the development and execution of Individual Distribution’s (ID) strategic messaging platform, supporting strategic communications and ID Leadership communication activities. This position leads the planning process to ensure that leadership communications, speeches and presentations are aligned with the organization’s overall business objectives and messaging. This role is also responsible for core ID platforms. By acting as an intermediary between Individual Distribution and business partners, this position works to educate partners and strategically align their communications with the business goals of Individual Distribution.

Principal Responsibilities:
Ensures that communications are aligned with ID strategy, delivered via the right media and reach the right audiences.

Works with Senior Leadership to develop strategic messaging that supports the achievement of identified business objectives.

Drives the creation of executive communications and presentations by developing communication strategies and identifying key messages.

Writes various executive communications including announcements, scripts, speaking notes, and other senior leadership communications.

Drives business partner understanding of and adherence to rules of engagement for effective communication with the ID channels.

Masters and maintains knowledge of business partner objectives, challenges and opportunities.

Drives the ideation process for projects that support partner objectives and align with ID objectives, presents ideas to partners and develops project plans.

Fosters an atmosphere of creative, out-of-the box thinking among direct reports and business partners, to ensure that programs and initiatives are aligned with business strategy and executed in a way that leverages innovative and best practice solutions.

Leverages innovative methods such as web, social media, virtual learning, and video capabilities to complement traditional communication platforms.

Full people management responsibilities identifying, developing & retaining talent

Job Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:
10+ years strategic communications and/or marketing communications experience in the financial services industry

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising or Business related

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Desired:
Proven expertise interacting with and presenting to Senior Leadership

Strategic thinker with proven ability to develop and implement solutions that align and drive strategic business objectives

Effective problem solver with expertise at anticipating and resolving issues

High level of interpersonal communication skills and ability to achieve results through strong partnerships

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to write and deploy strategic messaging

Excellent leadership and people management skills

Solid understanding of financial services and insurance products

Solid understanding of brand management and marketing strategy.

Strong project management skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to embrace change and adapt to changing priorities and to lead others through change.

Well versed in the creative design process, packaging and communication technology platforms.
