The Gap Online Creative Director is responsible for extending the Gap Brand to the online channel in a way that is inspiring and relevant to our customers. The Creative Director needs to balance a strong creative vision with an understanding of and appreciation for data-driven decision-making. They must have experience in and a passion for leading and developing large teams. They should be equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and diving into the creative work as well as influencing peers and executive leaders within the organization. They will bring constant innovation to Gap Online.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Concept and oversee execution of all projects within the Creative Department.
Inspire, direct and oversee all idea generation and concepting of creative materials in all marketing channels including Site, Email, Biz Dev, Promotions, and Mobile.
Act as catalyst for creative thinking and non-traditional solutions within the Gap creative department.
Enforce and be the shepherd of brand standards/guidelines.
Regularly monitor creative development with designers and art directors to streamline development time and keep projects moving forward creatively.
Partner with the Brand Creative Director to translate the brand vision and creative platform to the online team and inspire them to develop impactful creative ideas and executions that deliver to the brand vision/support the creative platform.
Provide seasonal creative inspiration and drive brand creative integration across all Gap online vehicles.
Increase the creative profile of Gap in a consistently surprising way.
Be a true creative thought-leader, constantly anchored in Gap's essence while able to continuously refresh with new ideas that deliver on the brand proposition.
Approve model casting for all photography and make sure that it is in line with Brand identity.
Oversee (with Associate Art Director) the monthly photo-shoots for marketing vehicles (both on figure and flat photography).
Concept new photography and identify ways to accomplish within budget.
Regularly check on product photography and approve for composition, color, and layouts of VI pages.
Challenge and innovate new methods of creative execution (audio, video, new photography, etc.).
Approve and aggressively manage budgets and spending of creative staff.
Work with Business Partners to set clear expectations of goals and ensure that deliverable achieve these goals.
Attend pagination and post-presentation line reviews to have clear understanding of clothing and merchandising goals.
Evaluate the best ways to communicate messages to customers and other target markets and, in conjunction with marketing team, evaluate results based on understandings of goals.
Organizational Relationships: The Creative Director is in direct contact with the brand marketing teams. Within Gap Inc Direct, the Creative Director is involved in regular contact with the Marketing Director to evaluate campaigns and set strategies; the Senior Director of Marketing and Creative and the VP/GM, to evaluate overall changes and states of creative development; production leads, to assess the state of workflow and project management and assign projects and parameters to help gauge workflow; customer experience teams, to help identify areas of potential improvement and to keep regularly updated on customer input; creative technology leads, to fix potential site traffic problems and to enhance existing functionality on the site.

Bachelors degree or higher.
Should have demonstrated ability or course-related experience in writing, photography, art direction, design, etc.
Strong project management skills.
8+ years experience in design or creative fields in a fashion, retail and/or advertising environment.
