This position is responsible for supervision of DPI certified professionals, (principals, teachers, guidance counselors), central office staff, and contractural employees. This positon manages the relationship between NCDPS-Adult Correction and the N.C. Community College System. This position manages all federal grants (IDEA VI B & Title I, etc.) and develops an annual education budget for 67 prison facilities. This position ensures that the five facilities which serve youth provide educational programming consistent with DPI standards and the Core Curriculum. This position manages educational records, responds to judicial & legal requests for inmate records and submits reports to the U.S. Department of Education, DPI, the N.C. Community College System and other agencies when requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of DPI policies regarding certification/licensure issues and procedures, knowledge of federal rules & regulations regarding management of Titke I & IDEA VIB budgets, possesson of a master's degree in educational supervision and certification as principal and/or superintendent from the Licensure Section at NCDPI. Experience as a school principal and knowledge of the McRel Principal Evaluation Process adopted by the State Board of Education. Familiarity with the course offerings from the N.C. Community College System and the Prisoner Education Program (PEP), in Adult Correction, knowledge of how to prepare and balance budgets over one million dollars, knowledge governing rules pertaining to 115C for license personnel, knowledge of how to interpret and process court orders, knowledge and development of policy and implementation of good human relation skills and supervision of DPI certified staff.

NC DPI certification as principal or superintendent, direct experience as a school administrator, experience in completing teacher and/or principal evaluations, curriculum development, supervision of NCDPI licensed personnel, central level of administration.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's degree in an educational field with certification by the North Carolina department of public instruction, and three years of administrative or consultative experience in education, preferably with exposure to both youth education and adult education, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. . .
