PerformLine is looking for a Director of Engineering. We work with Python (Django/Tornado), PostgreSQL, and Redis all running on Amazon’s web services. The Director of Engineering will guide the technical direction of one of our most valued teams within the organization. We are interested in an individual who can lead both the system administration team and can mentor developers with web application issues. We are a small team that does it all from front-end development to dev-ops.
Work with counterparts in the business units, product development, product management, user experience, design, quality engineering, and analytics to develop and maintain Performline’s product suite.
Manage and support engineering efforts across product lines
Architecture, Design and Code reviews for development team
Work with the head of product to establish schedules, deadlines, technical direction and team structures
Establish coding standards as well as unit test frameworks usage and standards to optimize re-usable codebase.
Ensure releases can be reliably planned, scheduled and successfully transitioned (deployed) to live environments.
Hands-on technical leadership, contributing to the development of product enhancements and technology frameworks.
Degree in Computer Science or related field
2+ years in a development/engineering management role
5+ years of development of large scale Internet-based applications
Strong solutions oriented mindset to resolve n-tier engineering issues
Previous hands-on development skills any scripting language, preferably Python and Django
Experience using Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, etc).
Experience working with traditional RDBMS and NoSQL databases. (MongoDB)
Experience leading the sys admin function in a Unix/Linux servers environment.
Experience working with Chef, Puppet, shell scripting, or other configuration management tools in a UNIX environment.
Experience building and operating high-availability clusters for PostgreSQL, Varnish, Apache, Redis, Celery, etc.
Experience with IPTables, ipfw, or other firewall related experience, hardware or software.
Experience setting up and maintaining monitoring tools such as Nagios & collectd and integrating them with Graphite.
Experience with “big data” i.e. products that involve high volume data collection and analysis.
Experience with fraud or compliance solutions is a plus.
