We’re seeking a seasoned Director, Brand Advertising and Media to partner with internal colleagues to bring our brand to life in global marketing communications. This role has primary responsibility for coordinating and driving our brand into all customer-facing Above-The-Line and Integrated advertising campaigns with the goal of increased engagement, clarity and comprehension of PayPal on a global scale. Brand Advertising Strategy
Brand Advertising Campaigns and Media
Brand Advertising Strategy: Will be responsible for creating global, integrated advertising campaign strategies to build the PayPal brand and relevant products and for ensuring that the strategy cascades to all relevant vehicles. Director works cross -functionally with regional marketing leads to drive consistency of overarching strategy across regional programs. This role is also responsible for testing and evolving the advertising strategy and brand affinity by working cross-functionally with colleagues in marketing, product, analytics, corporate strategy, agency partners, finance.
Brand Advertising and Media: As PayPal continues to grow into new markets and launches new products and services, more global and broad-based " above and below the line " marketing programs will be required to communicate the brand message. The Director will have responsibility for leading the organizations and directing the agency to develop global consumer and merchant campaigns. Campaigns should use best in class marketing practices, and explore new innovative marketing approaches, maintaining accountability for business and financial results
Agency Management: Global agency management has become a critical component to driving marketing programs at PayPal. This aspect of the role has two primary areas of focus, specifically, agency model/roster management and agency coordination/communication systems. Agency model/roster management includes annual reviews of existing agency partners against KPI’s. The Director will lead contract negotiations and maintenance globally. Overall agency model management at the global and regional level will be led by the VP and Director and her/his team. Consistent communications with the agencies regarding our business and product roadmaps to ensure all partners are prepared to service the business. We need a seasoned "brand advertising professional" who has worked with best-in-class B2C and B2B brands. The job requires rock solid brand and agency management background and proven success developing and managing both corporate and product brand advertising. Candidate must be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of working cross-functionally in a global organization. Requirements include:
Bachelors degree in a marketing communications-related field with MBA preferred but not required
15+ years leading brand marketing/advertising functions with strong consumer brand development and management experience
Extensive experience leading global marketing strategy and planning both client and agency side
Management of diverse teams including strategy, execution and creative
Prefer experience at a Fortune 500 company, or with a major agency supporting F500 business
Superior relationship builder and manager who can interact successfully at all levels of the company, from individual contributors to executive management
Nimble and adaptable work style
Strong collaboration skills, yet must also have a challenger mindset to be able to stand behind strong (even provocative) points of view
Excellent presentation skills and high comfort level presenting to senior executives and large audiences
Proven ability to influence decisions – and thrive – in a highly matrixed environment
Experience working across various functional teams and with international clients
Ability to analyze and utilize research to make data-driven decisions
Experience managing strategic agency partners and consultants
Extremely strong oral and written communication skills
