The Director of Grants and Contracts will provide leadership in sustaining and growing CHMC’s capacity to procure and manage grants and contracts for large-scale hospital programs and to shape the regional and national reputation of CHMC as a model urban hospital serving as an essential community resource. The Director of Grants and Contracts will be an experienced manager with the ability to understand the vision and strategic plans of the hospital and to interpret and translate them into a successful fund development effort. The Director of Grants and Contracts will have responsibility for: (1) Solicitation of grants; (2) Management of the relationship with grantmaking organizations; and (3) Oversight of CHMC’s compliance with relevant private, city, county, state and federal requirements, regulations and policies of the various grantmaking organizations. The main purpose of this position is to sustain and grow grant support for the hospital and its programs in the realm of private foundations, corporate giving programs and foundations, and all levels government funding.
The Director of Grants and Contracts will have primary responsibility and accountability for all grants and contract functions. The Director will be responsible for sustaining a fully functioning department that will continue to grow with the expansion of income from philanthropic and government sources. This position will monitor compliance for a portfolio of 40 grants and direct and supervise corrective action in instances of non-compliance.
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field, preferably in a business, finance, or related management field. The candidate should have program management experience and demonstrated track record, including a pattern of creativity and innovation that would enable him/her to contribute and lead the foundation's efforts to increase grants and contracts for hospital programs.
At least 5 or more years of verifiable experience as grants and contract manager or consultant for a large institution, preferably a hospital, academic, or nonprofit research organization.
