This is a highly responsible executive level position performing professional and administrative work directing, planning, and coordinating Housing and Community Development programs. These programs encourage the maintenance and preservation of existing homes, revitalization of designated neighborhoods and related infrastructure, development of new affordable housing opportunities, and other community programs. This position administers special programs and grants which include, but are not limited to: the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Partnership Initiatives Grant, the Housing Opportunities for Persons with Aids Grant (HOPWA), and the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). This is an appointed-official position, and serves at the pleasure of the mayor. Work involves overseeing the administration of federal, state and local funds for housing activities and regulations, rules, and policies. Work is performed with considerable initiative and independent judgment.
Bachelor degree in economics, public administration, business administration, planning, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible experience implementing housing and community development programs or related comparable experience to include three years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience. Master degree preferred. HUD-related certifications desired, but not required.
