This individual (with up to four people in his/her organization) will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing communications programs to advance TD AMERITRADE's corporate, cultural and business messages to its internal audiences. Reporting to the Managing Director, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, this professional will have a dual reporting line and accountability to the Head of Human Resources and works synergistically with various business leaders to ensure a coordinated and unified global communications front. Through effective written and oral communications and promotional activities, this individual will advance employee engagement, communicate executive messages, build community and drive cultural and business imperatives.
Build and manage the company's internal communications practice which provides expertise and advice to partners within various corporate and business groups. In particular, coordinate successful working relationships with human resources, sales, and business unit communications professionals.
Effectively and efficiently deliver on the department's mandate to produce high-impact informational, promotional and educational materials to internal audiences via multiple delivery channels.
Construct and maintain internal communications strategic plan calendar.
Ensure a consistent tone and voice for all internal communications to employees, including via social media and digital platforms, and executive messages being mindful of cultural and regional sensitivities.
Manage resources to develop brand-consistent communication materials.
Manage cross-departmental projects with teams of internal stakeholders. Responsibilities will include project scope, identification of business requirements, creative vision, timelines, deliverables and budgets.
Manage development and delivery of all company-wide employee newsletters, conference calls and management forum responsibilities include story and message development, talking points and scripts, production logistics and staging, and packaging of pre/post message flows.
Supervise and develop all internal executive communications (including Office of the Chairman) announcements and memos.
Structure and coordinate executive town hall meetings to ensure regional/local relevancy of corporate messaging as well as effective meeting flow and output.
Plan and conduct formal and informal employee and management surveys to inform future activities - analyze employee usage and user feedback.
Remain informed on industry best practices.
Proactively provide process improvement suggestions
Bachelor's degree required.
8-10 years of internal communications experience.
Experience developing and leading best practices programs including a background with social media and digital platforms is a plus.
Results-oriented, pro-active leader with strong organizational skills and team building competencies.
Experience working within matrixed organizations helpful.
A flexible and creative professional style, with a knack for influencing and coordinating an 'internal' communications agency.
Possesses strong relationship building skills.
Strategic thinker with excellent listening, presentation and communications skills. Proactive, creative problem-solver who has the ability to clearly 'shape the message.'
Must possess the ability to translate complex corporate messages into tangible 'plain English' deliverables.
Proven success managing people and projects. Effective decision maker with attention to detail. Experienced in both on-line and off-line communications channels.
