The Counterparty Treasury IT function within our Investment Bank manages the software platforms to deliver market differentiating features for Credit Valuation Adjustment, Counterparty Credit Risk, Liquidity and Collateral Funding. Across this area there are a number of established and new programs delivering strategic technical change to provide tangible business benefit to the Investment Bank and Group Functions. The work within this department is actively sponsored by the our Group Treasurer, the Investment Bank Chief Operations Officer, and the IB Treasury Trading global head whilst also actively supported by the Front Office and Control function heads. The role is for a hands-on, Senior Software Engineer in the Collateral and Funding program, developing and supporting a range of trading and reporting applications.

The Collateral and Funding program will allow the bank to more effectively use its assets and provide industry leading tools to our Treasury business. This unique, cross-product role will provide an individual with the opportunity to develop domain knowledge about a wide range of financial products, while expanding hisher technical skills. Your initial role will be on a high profile, strategic project to develop a global, real-time, Inventory Management application, as part of a wider Collateral and Funding program. As a senior team member, you will be fully responsible for all aspects of the development lifecycle, working closely with the Product Owner from requirements through to production release and support. The role will also require collaboration with other teams in the program, Group Treasury, Treasury Trading, Collateral Operations and Securities Operations to understand business processes, elicit requirements, and implement these as part of a wider business and technical solution. You are a hands-on, senior software engineer with experience of delivering complex systems at Investment Banks.

You must be able to apply critical thinking to proposed problems and have a keen aptitude for technology. Detailed knowledge of any particular technology is not as important as knowing when and how to leverage that particular technology. You must understand the value of continuous improvement and how to apply it within a project and team. A successful candidate will demonstrate Self-motivation – looking to take ownership and responsibility for driving technical and functional quality An ability to quickly learn – understanding frequently changing business requirements value translating into technical designs Strong technical and team-working skills – willing and able to take on responsibilities across the development lifecycle Strong engineering principles – the ability to work across technologies, consistently applying core engineering principles An ability to do more with less – appropriately identifying the use of 3rd party technologies Requirements Minimum of 10 years hands-on experience designing and developing distributed, high-performance, Java-based applications Minimum of 10 years experience developing applications using Core Java, including core OO concepts, concurrency, generics, and threading APIs (Java 1.5+) Minimum of 10 years experience using 3rd party libraries including Spring, Hibernate, and Apache Minimum of 10 years developing applications using database technologies, primarily large-volume, Oracle instances Expert in object-oriented design and development, including application of GoF design patterns Demonstrated experience in applying and championing Clean Code practices in a team Proven experience driving system and software design as part of a wider enterprise architecture, supporting emergent design Minimum 3 years experience working in teams applying Agile development practices, including unit test driven development, continuous integration, paired programming, iterative development, and incremental development Experience coaching and mentoring junior team members through regular reviews, paired working and leading by example Experience setting up and configuring build and deployment tools, including continuous integration servers (Bamboo, Hudson, TeamCity), Maven, and Ant Experience working with source control tools, specifically Subversion or Git Experience configuring and deploying applications for a Unix environment, specifically Linux Experience collaborating with Product Owners business contacts to understand requirements, value, and acceptance criteria Experience planning and supporting application releases, including diagnosing critical performance issues Experience supporting new applications post initial, production releasePreferred Qualifications Knowledge of securities financing repo trading application and use of funding information Knowledge of Investment Banking Treasury concepts and their underlying business processes Training and applied experience using Scrum, including leading events and creating artefacts Experience using code profiling tools for performance tuning, including JProfiler or JProbe Experience developing for and deploying to application servers (primarily Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic) Experience using Acceptance-Test Driven or Behaviour Driven development practices, using tools including J-Behave, Fitnesse, R-Spec or Cucumber If interested please contact or call direct at 973-784-4436 Core, Java, Spring, Hibernate, Thread, Oracle, Treasury, Credit, Risk, Collateral, Funding
