Summary of Responsibilities:
The Location Planning Strategist will be responsible for advocating, leading, developing, operationalizing and tracking the execution of enterprise-wide, domestic, regional, country and Line of Business (LOB) -specific location planning strategies and guiding principles to optimize costs, capabilities, and establish a sustainable future geographic footprint for MetLife.
The Director will develop, drive, and coordinate analyses to support location planning strategies and will provide direction, thought leadership and guidance on the planning, development and implementation of real estate portfolio, occupancy, location and labor sourcing strategies to achieve operating and financial objectives, and will present results and recommendations to senior management.
Principal Responsibilities:Relationship Management Strategic Consultation:
Socialize and advocate Location Planning initiative.
Develop and maintain collaborative and consultative partnerships with LOB representatives, BA team members, functional leaders, members of Corporate Real Estate (CRE), Human Resources (HR), Finance teams; establish effective communications and relationships based on credibility and trust.
Meet with LOB representatives to understand business and current issues, LOB requirements and strategic business plans; provide direction and thought leadership in developing capability planning strategies in sync with business direction and objectives.
Assist Global Technology & Operations (GTO) and Global Corporate Services (GCS) efforts and initiatives in building an efficient global capability network.
Planning, Coordination Implementation:
Develop domestic, regional, country and LOB-specific location planning scenarios; establish objectives, deliverables, planning and implementation schedules.
Develop location planning options, present results and recommendations to senior management.
Develop feasibility studies, financial models and impact scenarios in cooperation with CRE, HR and Finance.
Conduct talent/market analysis.
Spearhead business case development and implementation planning activities.
Lead work sessions and meetings, build consensus around scenarios and direction, obtain LOB representative and senior management “buy-in,” continuously drive activities to achieve results in support of objectives, deliverables and milestone dates.
Seek input and engage participation from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within GTO and GCS framework; manage and direct SMEs working on global and regional projects and initiatives.
In partnership with GCS departments, develop, oversee and manage strategic and sustainable approach to regional location selection to optimize capabilities, operations costs and real estate footprint.
Identify, interview, select and engage consultants; build, coordinate and lead project team comprised of internal and external members to achieve goals.
Minimum BA or BS degree.
8 to 10 years of professional experience in Project Management, Location Planning, Corporate Services, Financial Planning and/or Real Estate
5+ years of direct experience in a large corporate environment with extensive exposure to Strategic Portfolio/Location Planning and/or Project Management
A degree in economics, real estate, demography or related discipline is preferred; Master’s Degree a plus.
Prior experience in Corporate Services departments with other Fortune 500 or Major Consulting companies.
Senior management level experience in strategy development and value creation in Corporate Services environment.
Solutions-oriented, with sound business judgment and strong analytical skills; superior problem-solving skills with ability to make rational, complex decisions based on available data.
Superior client-service skills; ability to interact with, provide thought leadership to and positively influence senior-level management.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship management and team-building skills; ability to excel in teaming environments.
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
High degree of independence, initiative, responsibility and accountability.
Successful track record for managing multiple projects simultaneously through project teams, multiple resources across diverse cross-functional groups in support of enterprise objectives.
Fluency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
