We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will direct research programs and product development activities in the Genomics & Oncology (G&O) Research Department at RMD. The G&O Research Department focuses extensively on companion diagnostics (CoDx) development and collaborates with Genentech and Roche Pharmaceuticals internally, as well as with external pharmaceutical partners. The successful candidate will lead a group of 8-10 scientists and multiple projects. She/he is expected to interact within various internal and external groups to ensure optimal communication and compliance with FDA guidelines. Experience in Molecular Diagnostics development, preferably in the area of oncology is ideal.
Primary Responsibilities include:
Provides strategic leadership and technical direction in defining and achieving research objectives
Assures excellence of scientific research practice and assay development under Design Control
May participate in writing and/or approval of publications and filing patent applications
Provides critical review of scientific information and data produced by project team to ensure adequate progression of program/project toward defined goals
Ensures the integration of activities across the functions and departments within RMD.
Responsible for project and resource planning with internal customers and staff.
Communicates activities, and provides technical support and expertise to collaborators and internal “customers”. Education/Experience Requirements are:
Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (Molecular Biology, Cell Biology etc)
At least 8 years In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) development experience
At least 5 years of people management experience with evidence of increasing responsibility and scope
Must be able to lead complex workgroups and project team matrices
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of cancer biology and experience in cancer research desired
Experience with financial management of functional groups and projects
Ability to travel both internationally and domestically up 15% of the time.
