Job Description:
The Director of Systemic and Government Marketing (Director) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President. The Director will be responsible for systemic and government product marketing, research, and business development.

The Director will collaborate and support the CEO and President to develop and implement the long-term systemic and government commercial strategy. This strategy includes market research, business plans, product launch plans and budgets, messaging, branding, and partnerships. The Director will also oversee and direct the Associate Product Manager in all tactical marketing responsibilities, including packaging, product labeling, advertising, and collateral. Additionally, the Director will lead the Company’s relationship with key systemic and government opinion leaders. The Director will also provide strategic input into product development plans to meet the Company’s long-term systemic and government business unit objectives.

The Director will contribute as a member of the systemic, government, and global project teams throughout the product development process and product life cycle. The Director develops and provides the project teams with project initiation requests (PIRs), customer and marketing requirements, marketing updates, and provides the voice of the customer. Additionally, the Director will support regulatory affairs as needed by providing product-related information in the form of letters, documents, presentations, and references.

Includes the following; other duties may be assigned as needed.
§ Develops the long-term strategic business and marketing plans of U.S. and ROW markets for the systemic and government business units.
§ Initiates and leads strategic market research program efforts, competitive analyses, reimbursement research, cost effectiveness analyses, and partnership assessments.
§ Assesses potential RPS partners including their strengths, weaknesses, product portfolio, regulatory considerations, distribution reach, and capabilities.
§ Makes presentations and recommendations to executive leadership and/or targeted taskforces regarding new opportunities (including strategy, products, distribution channel opportunities, partnerships, etc.) in the U.S. and worldwide markets by assessing customer needs and requirements, reimbursement, target markets, disease prevalence, trends, drivers of growth, and/or partnership profiles to maximize RPS products, profits, and strategies.
§ Participates in and contributes to initial and ongoing outreach, meetings, and manages defined relationships with both potential and established corporate strategic partners including co-marketing partners, in-licensing partners, out-licensing partners, distributors, and others.
§ Researches potential/proposed new systemic or government product or technology concepts to evaluate the product need and viability and makes an evidence-based recommendation to the RPS leadership team of how to proceed.
§ Initiates approved new projects through a Project Initiation Request (PIR) form when applicable.
§ Evaluates and recommends any necessary re-prioritization of current project priorities based on the market viability assessment of the proposed product versus the current pipeline, including technological feasibility, time to market, potential revenue, etc.
§ Conducts primary and/or secondary research as needed to fully understand product market potential, reimbursement, customer requirements, and more for current and proposed systemic and government products.
§ Participates in and contributes as a member of core product development teams for all systemic and government products as well as the core global team.
§ Represents the voice of the customer in defining product requirements and technical specifications.
§ Manages the development of strategic marketing for all systemic and government products, including: product launch plans, cross-functional product pricing decisions, budgets, trade names, trademarking, branding, and messaging.
§ Oversees the Associate Product Manager in the development of the tactical marketing to support the launch and marketing of all systemic and government products, including: packaging, labeling, marketing collateral, campaigns, advertising, social media, photos, videos, tradeshows, product web pages, etc.
§ Responsible for post-commercial product management activities such as post-market surveillance and forecasting.
§ Works with the CEO and/or Medical Affairs to develop and execute strategies to obtain reimbursement and professional guideline inclusion for systemic and government products.
§ Works closely with the regulatory department as needed to ensure that all systemic and government activities and initiatives are based on an accurate understanding of current regulatory requirements.
§ Assesses and selects key opinion leaders to serve as members of the Company’s Systemic/Government Speaker’s Bureau and/or Advisory Board.
§ Supports the CEO and President with the management of key opinion leaders, Speaker’s Bureau members, and Advisory Board members for the Company’s systemic and government products.
§ Participates and contributes as an active member of the RPS leadership team.
§ Participates as an active member of the RPS strategic business development team.
§ Maintains strong professional relationships with business consultants and partners, including key opinion leaders, industry professionals, media, publishers, etc.
§ Understands and accepts that due to the corporate structure of RPS, other tasks can be assigned as necessary.
§ Adheres to all RPS policies and directives.

§ Ability to collaborate with internal and external creative, technical, legal, and/or clinical, partners/consultants.
§ Strong market research capabilities to identify and assess market information, industry activities, potential business partnerships and opportunities, as well as product-specific opportunities.
§ Relationship initiation and building - resilient personality that can identify opportunities to initiate and build relationships and capitalizes on opportunities that are presented.
§ Proficient in MS Office, and a working knowledge of the Adobe Design Suite, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Project, and other software as necessary.
§ Excellent professional, technical, and creative writing skills - can easily write business or technical documents clearly, correctly and concisely.
§ Ability to understand complex technical or scientific information and effectively communicate it to other audiences as needed.

  • 7+ years leading strategic marketing and/or business development within the medical device industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading both domestic and international medical device product launches.
  • Successful marketing and business development experience managing post-launch medical device and/or healthcare products throughout the product life cycle.
  • Extensive experience in leading and conducting both primary and secondary market research programs and teams.
  • A leader in conducting business, market, product, and competitive research, as well as analyzing research and summarizing assessments into compelling business documents, presentations, and/or plans.
  • Demonstrated history of working with diverse teams, including research and development, sales, product marketing, regulatory, legal, and executive leadership.
  • A strong knowledge of the medical device industry and its related regulatory requirements.
  • An established, relevant, current network within medical and healthcare technology.
