The College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA) at
Southern Illinois University Carbondale is pleased to invite applications for
the Director position of the School of Allied Health (SAH). The School offers
associate degree programs in Physical Therapy Assistant and Radiologic Sciences;
baccalaureate degree programs in Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Sciences, Mortuary
Science and Funeral Service, and Health Care Management; and a master degree
program in Medical Dosimetry. These programs serve approximately 540 on-campus
and 250 off-campus undergraduate students.
Effective Date: This appointment begins January 1, 2014 or when an
acceptable applicant is found. The director appointment is on an 11-month term
basis, with a 9-month continuing faculty contract. Salary is commensurate with
qualifications and experience; excellent fringe benefit package.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an earned, completed
terminal degree, and qualifications for appointment as a tenured associate or
full professor. This individual also must provide evidence of quality teaching
and service at the university level and a well-established research record
reflective of the rank, and grant writing. The candidate must have
administrative experience, academic and practical experience related to one of
the majors within the School of Allied Health.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate, qualifications for full
professor, extensive administrative and fiscal experience and significant grant
writing and fundraising success. Familiarity with off-campus and distance
education and graduate programming.
Responsibilities: The College seeks an individual who will provide
leadership to a cohesive and productive faculty of approximately 25 full-time
and 7 part-time instructors in the School as well as part-time instructors in an
extensive off-campus program. The Director must be committed to (1) stimulating
outstanding teaching, research, and service among faculty; (2) participating in
discipline-related research and service; (3) serving as an effective liaison
with the faculty, Dean's office and other academic units; and (4) fostering
partnerships and goodwill within the professional community. Specifically, the
Director will perform the following tasks: serve as chief administrative,
fiscal, and academic officer of the School; represent the School and its
programs in the College as well as the University and the community at large;
coordinate overall teaching, curriculum development, research and service
programs to accommodate students, staff, and the interests of the College;
coordinate off-campus academic programs; and engage in other assignments such as
fundraising and grant writing as determined by the Dean of the College. The
Director reports to the Dean of the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.

has 15 baccalaureate, three associate degree programs, and two master's degree
programs serving approximately 1,800 students on-campus and 700 students
off-campus. Southern Illinois University Carbondale is located in scenic
