DESCRIPTION

Northwestern seeks a dynamic and innovative administrator with vision and creativity. Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, the Director of Admissions provides the strategic direction and leadership for a results-orientated admissions program of considerable skill and innovation that is consistent with the goals and mission of our University. The Director oversees all aspects of student recruitment has broad responsibilities for leadership and management of the university's admissions, outreach, and marketing to prospective students.

The Director of Admissions will be a forward looking, visionary leader with great entrepreneurial, strategic and analytic skills, proven success in the areas of access and diversity, and finesse as a manager and collaborator. He or she must have the ability to galvanize a university-wide admissions effort that is student-centered, and leads a collaborative and effective team.

Most important will be the personal qualities of integrity, intellectual curiosity, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, significant strategic and analytical capacity, technological savvy, a collaborative work style, and commitment to excellence that characterizes our University. The successful candidate will have the ability to serve as an articulate spokesperson for the mission and values of Northwestern.

DUTIES

1. In coordination with the Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, strategically develop recruitment strategies, plans and goals to attract a broader pool of diverse and highly qualified student applicants consistent with Northwestern's enrollment goals and objectives.

2. Responsible for all communication portals and strategies from the time of inquiry to matriculation.
3. Develop, execute, and assess office policies, procedures and data processing systems of the Office of Admissions.

4. Supervise, manage, evaluate, hire, and train all Admissions personnel.

5. Actively participate in the Enrollment Management Team and assist in the implementation of the Enrollment Management Plan. Promote teamwork, collaboration, and resource sharing across the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management division.

6. Develop coordinated advisement, financial aid and registration processes for new students.

7. Analyze and report demographic and enrollment data for strategic planning purposes.

8. Manage and participate in recruitment and admissions activities, utilizing advanced and innovating recruitment technology and techniques.

9. Collaborate in the development of, and implement innovative and effective marketing plans and techniques. Assist in the design of promotional literature and display materials for admissions recruiting, and ensure appropriate brand consistency and coordination of admissions and communications staff.

10. Coordinate recruitment efforts with presidential, faculty, and alumni travel and events.

11. Attend webinars, meetings, and conferences as necessary to maintain knowledge of existing and new admissions and recruiting policies, practices, and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Master's degree in educational administration, business, marketing, communications, or other related field strongly preferred.

2. A proven track record of success in higher education recruitment and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the administration of an admissions office.

3. Superior communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

4. Supervisory experience in an admissions operation.

5. Expertise in facilitating organizational development and change.

5. Experience with innovative uses of technology in the student recruitment process.

6. Ability to formulate and articulate policies, procedures, expectations and practices.

7. Experience working with diverse populations.

8. Experience with and competency for analyzing recruitment-related data and assessing programming activities as part of strategic enrollment planning initiatives.

9. Proven ability to make data-driven decisions and experience in using a customer relations management system to track, report, and utilize prospective student data.
