Swarthmore College invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of Annual and Parent Giving.

Swarthmore's 425-acre campus is a spectacular designated arboretum surrounded by 116 acres of
natural woods, streams, and hiking trails.

The Director of Annual and Parent Giving manages the College's efforts to raise annual support from alumni, parents, and friends, and capital support from current parents and parents of alumni. The Director sets overall strategies for the Annual Fund (including the Alumni Fund and the Parents Fund), leads and supervises a staff of seven, and manages a portfolio of leadership level and major gift prospects. Reporting to the Director of Development, s/he serves as a member of the leadership team of the Development department. Additionally s/he is the primary point of contact for the volunteer
Parents Council. Total giving to the College in 2011-2012 was $24 million, with an Annual Fund
totaling approximately $4.6 million. Planning has begun for an approximately $400 million comprehensive campaign, which will enter a public phase in 2014, coinciding with the College's sesquicentennial celebration.

The successful candidate will be an energetic professional with a minimum of five years of fundraising or other related experience, preferably at a higher education institution in a comprehensive campaign setting. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Key qualifications include: exceptional organizational and interpersonal abilities; keen attention to detail and ability to independently handle multiple and varied tasks; strong technology skills and familiarity with development software and applications; and superior written and oral communication skills. Reunion fundraising experience is highly desirable. Candidates will be expected to work collaboratively and to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. The ideal candidate will be able to articulate passionately and convincingly the mission and aspirations of Swarthmore College and the value of liberal arts education.
