SummaryThe Director of Athletics provides leadership and a vision to guide and develop the athletics program in a manner commensurate with the mission and values of the University. Responsibilities include strategic and policy planning and implementation; strengthening and promoting the University†s athletics program and solidifying its success and recognition; effectively build relationships across campus and within the community of Greeley; managing public relations, media, and marketing initiatives; taking effective measures to ensure the fiscal soundness of the program; making fair and responsible personnel actions; achieving success in resource development and fundraising initiatives; and promoting and supporting the personal, academic and athletic development and achievement of student-athletes.Key Capabilities Set Direction
•Contribute to direction-setting of UNC as a senior University leader.
•Champion entrepreneurial thinking and fiscally effective practices.
•In collaboration with Athletic Department†s leadership team, set direction for the department. Ensure that the department†s direction for the future is consistent with UNC†s direction for the future.
•Lead the development and execution of a plan for UNC Athletics that is consistent with University planning. Mobilize Commitment
•Be an ambassador for Athletics and UNC with the Greeley community, faculty, students, media representatives, alumni, parents, conference representatives, and state representatives.
•Build vibrant, positive relationships with department leaders and employees.
•Build a cohesive organization and a clear department identity that reflects UNC†s identity.
•Steward the department. Empower others. Draw out the best in others.
•Build a culture that promotes student-athlete health and welfare and a commitment to UNC†s academic and community values (e.g., integrity, diversity, inclusiveness). Build Organizational Capability
•In collaboration with UNC†s Development and Alumni Relations and University Relations departments, actively build relationships with the Greeley community, business sector, alumni, and any other potential financial contributors.
•Participate in sales efforts.
•Provide clear expectations for department: ground-rules, roles, responsibilities, nature and degree of authority, decision making, structure, and measuring success and tracking progress.
•Build culture that supports the promise to provide transformative education for student-athletes.
•Ensure effective hiring as demonstrated by factors such as employee performance, engagement, and retention.
•Evaluate performance, develop people, and hold people accountable.
•Ensure fiscal responsibility.
•Ensure Athletics integrity and rules compliance. Priorities
