Advertised Summary Job Description

The Director of Career Management is responsible for creating a comprehensive career services program for both SCE students and alumni. The successful candidate should be able to: counsel students on all aspects of job-search activities; assist alumni with creating job-transition strategies; design and deliver workshops and other programs that focus on relevant career management topics, industry, and function specific issues; network effectively with current and new corporate recruiters to strengthen hiring relationships with the School of Continuing Education.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Master's degree required. 3-5 years of experience in student affairs, higher education, or human resources/recruiting required. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Must be detail orientated, self-motivated, and able to work independently and carefully manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with short deadlines in a high volume environment. Must be able to create training methods for small and large groups. Ability to work well under pressure with short deadlines and changing priorities is needed. Demonstrated ability to network and experience with industry outreach. Ability to effectively manage a financial budget.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with career advising in higher educational setting. Proven ability to plan and successfully execute events. Strong knowledge of and/or experience with career coaching is highly desirable. Deep knowledge of hiring trends, practices and employers. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Strong coaching skills and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds (U.S. and non-U.S. cultures). Candidates must be self-starters with ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Must possess strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills. Strong working knowledge of MS Office, social media and career testing.
