Director of Career Services

The Director of Career Services provides leadership to a contemporary program for career exploration, internships and placement. Working in a highly relational environment, the Director oversees the development and delivery of communications, services, programs and tools to equip students to successfully navigate the path from college to career. The Director will manage a robust internship enterprise working collaboratively with academic departments to support their initiatives. The Director oversees the development of strategic partnerships to maximize student engagement, learning, skill development and measurable outcomes. The Director must stay current on employment, industry and market trends, as well as technological tools and resources to maximize the reach and impact of operations and services with measurable outcomes. *
  • Design and implement career education programming and networking opportunities for students and assess their effectiveness based on measureable learning outcomes and key performance indicators. *
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, parents, employers, and alumni. *
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive, collaborative internship enterprise that supports academic efforts and is aligned with student interests and majors offered by the College. *
  • Supervise the Career Services team and create an organizational structure that is student-centered, demonstrates a commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment for students and staff, and is well- positioned to facilitate engagement between faculty, student and employers. *
  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and programs focused on driving student engagement in their career exploration. *
  • Design and initiate job placement strategies that ensures a wide variety of exceptional opportunities for students to be interviewed and hired by appropriate employers representing all sectors, including traditional for-profit enterprises, educational institutions, entrepreneurial companies, governments, and non-profit and social-sector enterprises. *
  • Manage the department assessment process and annual reporting of outcomes, key performance indicators and strategies of continuous improvement. *
  • Oversee and manage the daily customer service and back office operations. *
  • Provide support for professional development, team building and positive engagement for staff and student employees. *
  • Maintain office operational standards, FERPA responsibilities, and NACE guidelines. *
  • Represent, advocate for, and promote the department with higher education and career services professional associations and College-wide committees and task forces.

Required Qualifications *
  • Master s Degree or Doctoral Degree in business, higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling or related discipline. *
  • 5 or more years leadership experience in the career services and/or recruitment industry working with academic or corporate environments. *
  • Demonstrated excellence in skills based and informational presentations. *
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. *
  • Ability to create and maintain a culturally inclusive environment. *
  • Demonstrated experience working with academic partners, recruiters, business executives, community leaders, etc. *
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of current technology usage in career exploration and transition. *
  • 3 or more years experience supervising staff. *
  • Demonstrated administrative skills (e.g. managing multiple tasks with multiple deadlines, committee leadership, budget management, or similar skills).

Preferred Qualifications *
  • Terminal Degree. *
  • Experience as a Career Center Director within an institution of higher education. *
  • Supervision of full-time staff.
