Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the staff and activities of the Clinical Analysis Department, which serves as a service bureau for clinical and service (i.e., clinical") analytics and reporting needs of Dean Clinic, other system-wide entities, an/or identified affiliate organizations. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership to staff and acting as a technical resource for all activities necessary for ongoing management and monitoring of data acquisition, analysis and reporting activities supporting the needs of Dean Clinic requiring clinically-related information. The incumbent will actively provide technical and analytic expertise to department staff in the development of data analysis strategies to profile clinical trends (including satisfaction, clinical effectiveness, and clinical efficiency indicators), identify outliers, and develop recommendations for areas of further evaluation or intervention to support the objectives of Dean Clinic. This position is also responsible for providing clinical analytic support and expertise to Dean Clinic's leadership and staff to further the ability of the Company to meet and exceed its goals and objectives, including assisting leadership and staff in planning and conducting clinical studies and measurement activities. The Clinical Analysis Department is responsible for actively collaborating with other Dean Clinic, as well as system-wide entity, reporting and analysis teams to develop clinical analytic tools and reports to support the broader objectives of the Company. This position is responsible for providing leadership that facilitates and supports a patient-centered, collegial approach to decision-making and project implementation. The ability to regularly and customarily exercise discretionary powers and independent judgment that directly supports Dean Clinic's mission and goals is critical. Performs tasks under only general supervision.

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements include a Masters' degree in clinical, technical, scientific, or research related analytic field, with at least 5-7 years of progressive management experience or a Bachelor's degree in a clinical, technical, scientific, or research related field with 7-10 years of progressive management experience. A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in the development and implementation of data acquisition and analysis of integrated clinical data sources (e.g., encounter and billing information, medical record abstraction data) using query programming languages and/or statistical software with demonstrated capability to facilitate presentation of clinical information in a manner highlighting statistical significance and relevance is required. Demonstrated success with team and project leadership, ability to interact with clinical and analytic staff, and successful oversight of analytic initiatives is required. The incumbent will also possess project management experience necessary to effectively manage and lead staff in technical and non-technical projects of varied sizes. Proficient personal computer skills, including demonstrated knowledge of statistical software and basic understanding of query languages, are required. Must exhibit strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills. Must be able to work under pressure and meet d eadlines. Prior experience in integrated health care delivery system is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Manages and coordinates all clinical data acquisition, analysis, and reporting activities for the Clinical Analysis Department of Dean Clinic to support the clinical data and information needs of the organization. Provides technical expertise and demonstrates extensive knowledge and understanding of clinical data acquisition, analysis and reporting principles necessary to support clinical analysis and to provide actionable information to support business decisions. Manages, mentors, and provides leadership to the Clinical Analysis Department staff in identifying business user requirements and developing analytic specifications, including translation of customer needs into project descriptions, other measurement specifications, and development of project timelines. Provides technical expertise and leadership to Clinical Analysis Department staff in interpreting data, identifying trends, and presenting information to internal and external customers in clear, concise and useful formats to facilitate interpretation of complex data and identification of recommendations for areas of further investigation or intervention. Provides technical expertise and leadership to Clinical Analysis Department staff, as well as other Dean Clinic leadership and staff, in producing well-written analytic summaries and visual data presentation appropriate for delivery to internal and external customers, leadership and executive staff, and the DHS Board of Directors. Effectively collaborates with other Dean Clinic reporting and analytic areas (e.g., Decision Support) to deliver integrated business deliverables that may include clinical, service, financial, and operational data elements and will appropriate clinical analysis leadership to combine this information in such a way as to provide comprehensive answers to business questions. Develops effective collaborative relationships with other System-wide entities' (i.e., DHP, SMDV, SMH) analytic leadership, as well as other Dean Clinic reporting and analytic areas (e.g., Decision Support) to insure effective data acquisition, analysis, and reporting of clinical and service areas of focus. Actively mentors staff and provides professional development through provision of explanations, training, demonstrations and answering questions, while demonstrating experience with primary research techniques to facilitate effective analysis and profiling of data. Provides project leadership, including project management expertise, for complex clinical analytic projects that may involve cross-departmental or cross-entity collaboration. Provides management and leadership for activities supporting the ongoing monitoring and evaluation clinical activities (e.g., quality or service initiatives) and provides technical expertise to Dean Clinic leadership in understanding and utilizing analytic results, including the development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of reporting activities to evaluate Dean Clinic's performance against the goals and objectives of the Company. Provides support to Dean Clinic leadership and staff on issues related to data, statistics, analysis, and information management. Performs other duties as assigned.
