Job Summary:
The Director of Compliance is responsible to establish and implement an effective compliance program to ensure for compliance with banking laws and regulations, and to help prevent illegal, unethical, or improper business practices within the organization. This individual monitors and reports the results of the regulatory compliance activities of the company to the Board of Directors and to Executive Management, as well as provides guidance to the Board of Directors and to the Executive Management team on matters relating to compliance. The Director of Compliance, together with the Compliance Department staff and/or the company-wide Compliance Task Force ensures for the implementation of all necessary actions to achieve of the objectives of an effective compliance program. In this connection, this individual interacts and communicates with various levels of management from all areas of the company. The candidate also serves in different roles such as the Bank Secrecy Act/AML/OFAC Officer, Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer and ensures that effective monitoring and reporting programs are in place regarding these specific activities.
The salary for this position is $96,667- $138,096. The schedule is a 40 hour work week M-F 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree; Masters (MBA) or law degree preferred.
Must possess a minimum of 10-15 years related experience, with a strong knowledge of the financial services industry (preferably banking), its products and services.
Requires a minimum of 5 years experience managing a Compliance Department.
Professional certification/designation preferred (i.e. Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRP), etc) is preferred.
Requires the ability to act in a team leadership role within a group environment and effectively partner with other Associates in handling compliance issues.
Must have a broad background and basic knowledge of regulatory issues, laws, and regulations, and being able to determine relationships between these issues among various levels of Associates within the company.
Must have a broad understanding of regulatory compliance with other facets of the banking industry (such as non-deposit investment products - broker dealers, etc).
Must be self motivated and have an ability to work in a flexible, team-based environment but with very little direction or supervision.
Requires exceptional oral and written communication skills and proven attention to detail. Ability to write clear, concise reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
Must have the ability to manage a highly diverse and demanding workload.
Must have the ability to oversee multiple compliance issues and the ability to address related issues with various levels of management, including senior/executive management and the Board of Directors - when applicable.
Ability to effectively present information, respond to inquiries and communicate with regulatory agencies (OTS, FDIC, etc.).
Must possess a high degree of ethics and integrity.
Must have strong microcomputer skills with good working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described below must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Incumbent will be required to stand for intermittent periods of time.
Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
The incumbent will be required to walk, reach with hands and arms, push items over head, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The incumbent will also be required to talk, hear, and see.
This position requires regular lifting and moving of up to 10 lbs.
