BASIC FUNCTION: In conjunction with the Managing Director of Sales develops the CVBs sales programs to attract and increase Grapevine hotel and meeting facility usage by group business and to manage, motivate, and train the sales managers.
NATURE & SCOPE: Under limited direction from the Managing Director of Sales, performs direct sales functions promoting Grapevine hotels and facilities to group meeting planners.

Typical duties include:
Sales - Develops, implements and supervises sales programs including direct sales contacts, tele-marketing campaigns, trade show participation, and lead development.
Sales Materials - Participates in the development of all sales materials, i.e., brochures, meeting planners guide, fam invitations and other materials as needed.
Events and Promotions - Coordinates special promotional events designed to inform and build relationships with potential users and customers.
Facility Knowledge - Maintains a high level of hotel facility knowledge including guestrooms, meeting/exhibit facilities and property amenities. Also is knowledgeable on Grapevine meeting facilities outside of hotel properties. Maintains information on competitive properties in the Metroplex.
Hotel Liaison - Maintains regular meeting with hotel sales management. Administration - Selects, trains and evaluates sales personnel, and sets individual sales goals in conjunction with the Managing Director of Sales.
Personal Sales - Maintains own sales goals and quotas within assigned market.
Requires four-year college degree and minimum of five years of CVB and/or hotel sales experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include two years as a Director of Sales for a CVB or a full service hotel.

Valid Texas drivers license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position will manage a team of five Sales Managers and generate sales leads in the midwest market. This sales professional will promotes Grapevine, Texas as a premier meeting destination. Work is performed under pressure in a fast paced, formal environment. This Director of Convention Sales will plan and execute major projects using own initiative. They will primarily perform work under established policies and criteria. Although work is performed under established rules, DOCS can have input in the establishment of policies and rules affecting the job.

POSITION GOALS

Solicits and secures hotel leads through telemarketing and written correspondence

Produces sales leads, bookings, lost business and pre and post trip reports

Coordinate site inspection visits including venue reviews

Organizes sales trips/blitzes with creative theme; producing mailing, solicitation list, followed-up with reports and expenses

Attends industry meetings, trade shows, familiarization trips, luncheons, etc.

Coordinates and develops proposals

Makes presentations to organizations promoting Grapevine, Texas

Maintains an acceptable level of leads, bookings, room nights, and conventions as established
