Becoming Trulia’s Director of Corporate Communications provides an opportunity to play an important, strategic communications role at a fast-growing public company that began trading on the NYSE in September 2012.
The Director of Corporate Communications will be responsible for building the company’s corporate narrative and driving the PR strategy for the company’s corporate reputation. To be successful in this role you will need to have the right relationships, skills and experience relevant with financial and business outlets and reporters, as well as narrative creation that bridges between PR and IR. You will ensure that the right programs are being delivered to the right audiences and generate visibility for Trulia’s strong management team and culture of innovation. You need to be a tenacious media relations expert with established national business media, online and broadcast media relationships. You will be responsible for securing company and executive profiles and you will prepare key messaging and information for media interviews, speaking engagements, and additional corporate initiatives. In addition, you will play an important role advising the senior management in communications for a number of specific functions, including quarterly earnings, M&A activity and crisis communications. Your role will be to enhance the Trulia brand and make sure investors and the market clearly understand Trulia’s position and strategy, as well as the company’s roadmap for success. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Communications and will work closely with the senior executive team.
Desired Skills & Experience
Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism or English required, from a top-tier school preferred
8-12 years professional experience in corporate communications, in-house experience is a must, work with a public company is strongly preferred
Experience with quarterly earnings, M&A activity, crisis communications and general corporate initiatives
You will have experience leading teams and mentoring colleagues
Demonstrate the maturity, confidence and poise required to effectively advise senior-level executives
Experience as a company spokesperson is a plus, in order to be able to represent the company with external constituencies such as the media, industry organizations, and our community
Skills to work cross-functionality across the organizations with execs and employees from engineering, product, finance, legal, HR and the C-suite
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
