The Director of Corporate Relations is responsible for all aspects of a comprehensive corporate relations program designed to build long term, multifaceted collaborative partnerships with the corporate community.

Responsibilities include soliciting new corporate philanthropic gifts and sponsorships and managing existing relationships to support the overall mission of Shedd.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Corporate Relations will develop and implement a strategic plan for the corporate program to reach revenue goals. Work with Corporate Relations Manager and Coordinator to coordinate all aspects of strategic plan including research, cultivation, recognition and retention. Work with Trustees and Senior Vice President of Development to develop and implement solicitation for major corporate gifts. Identify, secure and cultivate relationships with new corporations to develop additional revenue for the corporate line. Prepare proposals and presentations as needed to elicit corporate funds. Monitor relationships to determine if company objectives are being met and track partnership satisfaction levels. Maximize partnerships throughout the building to include numerous divisions.

Responsible for all areas of prospect identification and research, cultivation, solicitation, recognition/sponsor benefits, stewardship, proposal development and development and maintenance of a corporate prospect tracking system. Identify company objectives and create strategies accordingly. Responsible for oversight of contracts and fulfillment.

Work with grants team to ensure corporate grants and reports and submitted in a timely fashion.

Manage corporate team to ensure all aspects of corporate program is being developed and fulfilled.

Budget reconciliation, tracking and reporting. Prepare budget worksheets and monthly development report to ensure accurate reporting.

Work closely with Marketing/PR and Development teams to meet institutional annual goals-revenue and attendance.

Maintain membership and fulfill responsibilities for aquarium teams and other duties as required. Assist in staffing after hours special events hosted by the Development Department, including fundraising events, cultivation events, member events, etc.

Education: Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience.

Experience: 8+ years fundraising, sponsorship, or marketing experience. Managing staff and projects a must.

Special knowledge and skills: Computer and word processing skills required. Raiser's Edge preferred. Experience at developing and executing innovative major market sponsorship programs. Must be a creative thinker with strong oral, written and presentation skills. Negotiation skills a must.

Personal skills: Energetic and pro-active leader. Skilled at working in a team environment. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under deadlines. Conflict resolution and problem solving required. Must be comfortable making sales calls. Dedication to excellence. Able to handle confidential information.

Ability to work weekends and evenings. Must have driver's license. Ability to
lift boxes, signage, etc.
