DESCRIPTION

At this time we are seeking a Director of Credit Risk to provide leadership and management to the daily operations of our Credit Risk Department including staff leadership, training and development and creation and maintenance of polices, practices, and procedures. The most critical area of responsibility will be the oversight of the portfolio credit risk management, which entails regular analysis of the Credit Union's loan portfolio made up of consumer, mortgage, and commercial loans, in order to protect the organization from credit risk and loan losses.

This is a highly visible position and will require reporting for and interaction with executive level management and Board members including presentation of data specific to delinquency ratios, charge offs, month to date, and foreclosure updates.

DUTIES

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years directly related experience including 3-5 years in a management/leadership capacity within the Credit Risk field or a minimum of 10 years' experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess current knowledge of Freddie Mac, FNMA and private mortgage insurance guidelines concerning collection and reporting activities including, but not limited to, delinquencies, foreclosures, short sales and loss mitigation.
  • Proficiency and experience in all aspects of consumer underwriting standards is required.
  • Communication Abilities - strong in both oral and written communication; must be able to make effective group presentations with a focus on training staff regarding technical areas; must provide clear and concise written communications essential for fraud identification and prevention. Ability to remain calm in tense situations and adept at handling conflict.
  • Computer Skills - proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including: Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel (advanced skill level preferred) with the ability to learn other applications as needed.
  • Analytical skills - strong data collection and research experience; must demonstrate the ability to use intuition and experience to compile and analyze data.
  • Prior experience designing work flows and procedures for department efficiency is preferred.
  • Problem solving - identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Interpersonal skills - works well with diverse groups of people; treats others with respect and dignity at all times; focuses on solving conflict without hostility; works towards achievement of mutual goals.
  • Ethics - works with integrity while maintaining confidentiality of CU records and sensitive information; upholds the values of the organization in the course of work.
  • Adaptability - adapts to changes in the work environment; changes approach or method to best fit the situation.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail, project planning, and multi-tasking skills.
