The Director of Curriculum and Assessment (DCA) leads the curriculum and assessment team to ensure that all Mastery Charter students, across all schools, produce breakthrough results in all content areas as measured by State, SAT, AP, Mastery Benchmark interim and other valued assessments. The DCA is a member of the Central Academic Team, reports directly to the Chief Academic Officer, and provides support to Principals and all Mastery Charter Schools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Driving system-wide success on the PSSA, ACT, AP, Mastery Benchmark assessments and other valued measures;
Creating and driving a vision for the Curriculum and Assessment at Mastery including team operations and outputs;
Directly managing the Curriculum and Assessment team members; providing guidance, support and provide professional development;
Managing the development and implementation of curriculum for all content areas and grade levels, ensuring it is aligned horizontally and vertically;
Collaborating with other members of the Central Academic Team to ensure curriculum initiatives are rolled out effectively, supported by data systems, and aligned to the needs of the total student population;
Coordinating communication between the curriculum team, instruction team, operations, and site based leaders and teachers;
Providing guidance for the vision of teacher professional development across the network;
Monitoring and responding to campus-based and organization-wide assessment data;
Identifying and developing systems for capturing, codifying, and sharing materials and best practices within and across campuses.
Strong administrative background that reflects effective leadership, management and communication skills
Successful management of a high level, high-performing, diverse team
Has experienced a high level of measurable success working with urban youth
Is familiar with effective student supports and special education programming
Familiar with common national education programs and products
Familiar with Common Core Standards, PA State standards as well as ACT and AP programs
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree with five (5)years of experience in teaching, teacher coaching, and/or curriculum/assessment writing
Certified in educational administration, supervision or similar program
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required; maneuver in office space; must be able to sit for up to two (2) hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard, mouse and typing.
